Thanks the problem is with the front level that locks the box lid down keeps unlocking by itself. The seal is not in correct and was hoping that was the fault. I took the seal out completely a new lid and seal coming under warranty but with the seal out still the lever comes disconnected by itself only the right side. I’ve modified the lever so it latches better and has fixed the issue. Waiting for new lid and seal . Should not have to do this with a new bike. Has any other people had issues with the latching mechanism

 

Hmmm, I just got a new G3 Max XT 850 Friday (6/13/25) and there is NO seal at all under the front cover.
But, the lid opens and closes with latches just fine. Going over to dealer today to see about accessories and will ask about the seal.

 

Well mine has a so called seal but it leaks when washing with a garden hose. (I never use a power washer)

 

A day after I bought mine I brought it back to the dealer to to fix the front storage lid. He robbed one off a floor model. They also had to install the eyebrow lights over the headlights - the factory didn't install them. Probably missing other stuff if they missed the eyebrow lights.

 

front storage lid wouldn't stay clicked in on both sides for me no matter what I did so I took the damn thing off and mount the LINQ fuel caddy in there instead.

 

All the ones I have worked on so far just need pushed down harder and the latches locked in by hand. A bit of a pain but works.

 

I'm 250lbs and was doing exactly that and no dice. Had other buddies try as well and we all came to the conclusion that it was never going to work properly. I have a storage box on the back so didn't need or really want the front one anyways so I just removed it. It's also a good spot to put a chainsaw now. A racquet strap and you're good.

 

new lid arrived with new seal . Still unlocked itself on the R/H side so i fitted my modified locks . Do wish the box opened the other way so you can access gloves goggles snacks etc without getting off the bike. Still haven't ridden it yet of to the USA to ride to Sturgis this week si will have to wait

 

This happened to me too. Remove seal make sure it’s not sitting odd/deformed.
Super glue lightly in channel. Add seal. Never will come out again until you need a new seal. Then repeat step 1.
Been good for over a year.
