I don't know for sure if I am bragging or showing my stupidity?? Myself and 5 of my buddies went to Brimstone Tn. to ride this past weekend. We were told that the trails with a Y after the trail number meant "Why am I on this trail" and I found out the hard way. We all took the trail until the 1st hill when we got into some trouble and the last 2 guys turned around and said they would meet us at the other end of the trail. After we finally got up the 1st hill and thought that was it but it wasn't. We got to the 2nd hill and and another guy turn around and went back. The 2nd hill was just as bad as 1st. Straight up with roots ruts and rocks. So at that point there was no going back! After resting we went on up the trail and finally got to the end! Now we were looking at a hill before us that made the other 2 hills look like ant hills!! There was no way we could make it up without winching up but it was so long we could only winch so far when my winch had all the cable on one side and stopped halfway up so I crawled up the hill to get a signal on my cell phone to call the other guys to come help. Making a long story short, we all made it up! I will not go on that trail again. The next day we were stopped by a ranger to check our permits and we were asking question about some good trails to go on and told him about our problems we had the day before and he asked what trail we were on and when we told him 75Y he said " OH MY GOD" He said that trail 75Y was the hardest trail in Brimstone! Like I said, I don't know if I am bragging or showing my stupidity? I don't have any pics yet but check out "You Tube" there are some videos of a rhino flipping but that is the 1st hill on the trail.

Here is the link to You Tube Video. This is the 1st hill.
T-Rex Roll on 75Y Brimstone - YouTube

That's a crazy roll. We are going to try to spend a day at Coal Creek or Brimstone this week.

We are new so we don't plan to hit any trails like that.
Would love to have a guide if anyone plans to ride this week. I am flexible all week.

Mike

Man that's just unreal, you have a Max chassis and still had to winch up a hill? That would be nuts! I have gone up a LOT of hills that a shorty MAY never make but never found one I had to winch the MAX, you're not stupid, you're crazy, heh heh heh.

Yep, some of those trails are steeper than they look. Never been to Brimstone but i know now not to try 75Y. Windrock (coal-creek) is another story. Rode there several times, as long as you stay on the easy-moderate trails( being beginners) you should be ok. It all depends on your skill level and how comfortable you are with your machine. If you go to www.windrockatv.com and post on the forum over there, I'm sure someone who can guide you would be happy to. I would volunteer myself but i haven't been to Windrock( ccmc) in about 2 years I know the trails( look at a map in my computer room all the time). If you do go, if you don't like crowds don't wait till the week of October 20-23, That'll be the week of the fall jam unless you like crowds.

Believe me don't try any trails with a Y after the trail#. The maps you purchase are pretty good but some of the trail signs are turned were they can be seen from only 1 direction. So you will have to slow down and look around good. Nice place to ride. Even some of the blue trails were slow going but fun. I never did know what happened to the guys in the T-Rex? I will be going back!! But Iam proud to say that out of the 3 of us that made it, 2 of us were riding Outlander Max!!!

We have made that ride once, We live 10 hours away so we don't get up there much. Loved it and hope to go back this spring. And yes the pictures don,t do it any justice. My red neck friends have no idea what its like to ride that steep for that long. Does make your butt pucker!!!

That is true!! You have to see it in person to understand the length and steepness of the last hill. Don't forget the 2 hills before it aren't no cup cakes either!!!! You can see the last hill if you go to the other end of the trail. Can't remember the trail# but if you look on the map you can find it.

Oh my! Didn't look to bad there and then right at the top! I hope those guys were ok!!

Did you winch from the very bottom or kinda get halfway? I don't think i would have attempted that one without some serious assistance!

I got about 1/4 the way up than winched the rest of the way with the help of the other guys with us! If anyone can make it to the top on a utility 4-wheeler I would love to see it!

Bout the only way I'd try that is if i had weight on the front end, a safety rope, and friends to both video and help me if it stood up on end. That is also if i'm wearing full protective gear. Had 2 atvs fall on me ( not at the same time) Both mine, and yet i am still lucky to be wearing a helmet and being between the handlebars and the rear box.

Best way to go up that kinda hill is keep on the throttle, you let off and front end'll start raising up.

( riding a max up steep hills is a lot safer than a short yet same weight machine). Least I wouldn't try it with any other type atv.
