Considering buying a Commander and need some advice

I already have a 1K Outtie, so I know the Can Am product, but the wife wants a Commander too for when she wants to go out. But I'm keeping my Outtie for me! :th_smiliethumbsup:

She really like the Limited in Orbital Blue. My question, is the Limited woth all that extra money?

Also, like to know from you experienced commander owners, if you had to do it again, what are some of the things you would have changed at the time of purchase (i.e. clutch kit, tires, etc)?

Thanks

Friend of mine finally convinced his wife to let him get a Commander so he got a Commander X. Guess what? She is pissed he did not get the Limited as she now rides frequently. Go figure, cant have one to didnt get the right one, LOL

LOL .... That's why I'm asking .... One mistake and :buttkick:

I priced up an XT with all the goodies (minus the shocks) and it wasn't far off the same price.

The shocks are a big difference in ride and adjustability

i had them both and still have the outy 1000 but got rid of my commander for the xp900. the thing im going thru now and before is i never ride my outlander now. when we go riding my other half never wants to go on the quad now, she used to till we got the sxs.
I have to say even i dont choose the outy over the sxs now, they just make the sxs's to much fun anymore and fast.
so with that being said i honestly bin thinking of selling the outy since i dont ride it, i love it, just dont ride it. ok im done..lol........st

I feel the same way. I am a die hard Can Am guy and was really looking forward to the Commander coming out. I got to test drive one at Windrock. Man was I let down. It was like driving a Rhino with a better motor and seats, that was about it. Well, except for the "throttle by wire" which I HATED!!!!!!!!! When the XP900s came out I drove one and decided that suited my driving style a LOT better. Granted the Commander is better if your looking for something to use around the farm but if you plan to drive it fast on the trails the XP 900 is better suited for that. If you know any body that has a Commander and someone that has an XP see if you can drive both to help you decide. Who knows, maybe Can Am will step up to the plate and bring out a 1000cc, throttle by cable sporty side by side.

What about cab space in the XP vs. Commander? I'm 6'5" and 300lbs and the RZR looks a little small. I've never had the chance to sit in one, but I have in the Commander and with the adjustable seat I am pretty comfortable.

For me, the SXS will be about comfort more than performance. LIke I said, I plan on keeping my Outtie for blasting, as my wife likes the trail (really road) type of driving, stop at the camps for the odd "pop", etc. I don't mind that once and a while, but I gotta have my mud time! lol

well im 6'2 and have no problem in the xp. I thought the commander was a little more spacest but other guys that are 6'5 6;7 on the rzr forum think the rzr has more leg room. I guess you would have to beleive it since they were comparing the too ( i wouldnt of thought that tho but im not that tall).

Im thinking once u start riding 1 of those sxs's u may not ride your quad as much..lol. I was a die hard quad guy and said i would never want 1 of them cause i like riding quads to much. now look at me lol, that was also when every1 had rhinos, sxs r different now.
I no your saying its not about performance but it will end up being about that or you would be concidering 1 of the other sxs's lol, were guys, thats what we like.. I wouldnt doubt that the xp would hang with the outy there about 3-5 lengths ahead of the commander.
but if u really dont care about performance the commander is a beutiful and awesome machine, just a little noizy..st

I don't remember much about the space in the cab between the two. You really need to find someone to let you drive both before you decide. Just remember to compare the ground clearance and compare the ride. We have to pull the one Commander that goes with us out of a lot of the mudholes we go through with ease. We all run Bighorns so it isn't the tires.
