Dash default display stuck at clock

My display no longer displays welcome message, speed, revs or combined display. The clock displays instead. Odometer is not available so I can't scroll through the modes either. Does anyone have a work around for this problem?

The first thing that comes to mind is disconnecting your battery and letting it set for 10-15 minutes and then reconnecting it and see if that may reset it.

Battery disconnect did not help. Dealer at Gatton QLD said the dash cluster is worn out. This is one of the least strange reactions of the cluster coming apart internally.
How old is the machine? This might be the first Defender cluster failure I've heard of
I think he has over 1070 hours. I believe he asked a while back why they stopped at 1070hrs. But yah that the first I have heard of that style cluster failing and it has been around since the commanders and is in the x3s also.

They frequently fail in Australia. Often just go completely blank. I have done about 45000km in 6 years. The dealer I spoke to said they often give trouble after 20000km. I have been more fortunate than most. The $650 replacement cluster unit does not necessarily correct all the display issues but is the most likely to fix it.

Now I can't remember. Do you have the xt display or what display do you have?

This morning my clock is gone, but I have changed nothing! Now I can scroll through 6 screens. 0 Max, 0 Avr, Lap Rec, Lap Play, +0 0, and the one in the photo.

The +0 0 seems to change with speed. Left side seems to measure plus or minus from the avg speed since start and the right hand side displays that running average speed.

The two strokes in the first photo seem to represent rolling average speed since start and it adds bars either side depending if current speed is above or below average speed and by how much.

That is quite interesting, never seen em do that. I will say those are not the best displays and have replaced a couple for malfunctions.

The + or - Avg screen would be good for spraying. Just drive at about the right speed until the right hand number shows the desired speed and drive at 0 to keep it there. In the absecence of a speedometer it is the best I can do.
I can only offer that that programming capability must be for the overseas/international machines  🤷‍♂️
