Yes, key must be programmed to vehicle, but your dealer is super ripping you off, key only costs $35 or so, programming would be extra, if they want to charge for that. I routinely make keys for my customers for $35. my cost.

I have MPI interface for the brp but I have the following problems with the DESS key... even if I have an Megatech/expert licence and buds 2 software available to try almost everything that I think of ...

I have read all the Dess key problems forums but my problem is different in the fact the ATV cannot read the keys at all ..
I get error key not recognized. .. I appears that the ATV Can-am renegade I have model 2020 Renegade x xc 1000 my20/0. I say this because I cannot add any keys in buds2.. due to the fact that they are not read by the contact or ecu.. not sure who is the faulted item.

I have opened complete contact and cleaned this and removed all the grease and made sure that the 2 small pins touch the key and everything seems fine.. but maybe it's still the contract of the key that is the main problem sience it could have been taking up water/corrosion.

I had only dealer licence and without any options i have deleted all the keys..
Than I have bought the Megathronic licence and using this I have disabled the DESS anti theft sistem completly.
To my surprise... even with the anti thft system disbled.. i have the same problem.. at the start i get error des key not recognized.

Looking in the software I have the strang impression that even if you disable the dess-anty theft system you need to have a key in your keys list.. but unfortunately I have deleted my only existing key in the list and cannot add another one sience there is some problem that I cant really find.
In the buds2 i always get an error U0167 that asks me to check the resistance between my ECMB-A1 and CC-E and also my resistnace between my ECMB-C2 and CC-E.

Unfortunately I don't really know what CC-E and CC-C stand fore and where to find them. The ECMB pinouts are more easy to find by just.. taking the ECMB A and B coupling out.. and could measure..

Take care of your contacts .. use lots of grease around it and as well spray wd40 inside as it's a lot better to have this WD40 (watr displacement ) inside than the water and dirt that will make it's way once you will power wash this part as well.

Attached some pcitures of my finding of this issue but still have no solution and hopefully just changing the key will make my atv read again the keys as now i'm unable to start it at all even if the dess system is disabled.
