Does the visco lock make a squealing sound?

3905 Views 10 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  XMRjunkie
I've attached a recording and would appreciate some feedback. After unzipping, file is in m4a, Quicktime format. Can anyone tell me if this is the visco lock noise everyone speaks of or something else? I'm assuming this is part of the normal Can Am noises but just want to verify.

I don't have an xmr but that does not sound normal.
Is it belt squeal?
I don't think so because the sound originates from my front end not the side where the belt is and it's only apparent when I'm rolling.
the cvt air inlet is up near the speedometer. it's the squeeling clutches you are hearing.
Well that makes this interesting. So does that mean I'm destroying a belt? I've read about the slip util engagement and replacing the secondary to eliminate more noise. Is that what this is? The secondary noise or the primary slipping or both? I'm starting to wish someone would sue CanAm for intentional faulty design principles resulting in undue cost to the consumer.
the material the BRP belt is made out of makes it noisy. switch to a Gates and the noise will be gone. It's the BELT not the clutches.

I have tried all the belts, and as above utilize the Gates Carbon belt or go all the way to the Maverick Belt. I have been very happy with both

Did you have a similar experience with the noise going away?
