Hi all. Just got a commander max limited. Not had the chance to drive it properly yet...

So, I wanted to start this topic to ask various questions as they come up and maybe post any info that might be useful.

First question: does anyone have any plugs on the zerks on the lower control arms? I noticed that mine don't have and it seemed strange - already some of the purple grease had managed to escape just with a tiny bit of driving...

I noticed two important things for the 2016 Limited:
1. The rear diff is fixed
2. There's no onboard compressor and no auto lowering or raising the Fox suspension.

I'm sure many nice things will come up after I get time to start driving it properly after a couple of days :)

Welcome to the site.

Do you have a commander (SxS) or an outlander (ATV)?

If your missing zerksd then you need to call your dealer, thye should be on there.

Hi. I have a SxS.

The zerks are there just the caps, plugs or whatever we call them aren't. This means the precious grease is going to leak out - as some already did - and god knows how much dust and mud will make it's way through and ruin the bearings. The dealer is kinda dumb and I don't want to contact him about anything...

So I was hoping someone could take a look at the zerks on the lower control arms on their commander and tell me if they have any plugs. Seems to me they must have plugs!

The zerk fitting has a spring loaded ball that prevents any great amount of grease from escaping or contaminants from entering. Clean the end off before greasing and your good to go. Most of us grease them at least every other ride.Every ride if your mudding.

Thank you for the much needed clarification - shows I haven't touched a grease gun in a long time LOL. I guess all the excess grease was run off from the initial greasing!

Today we made our first run - about 15 miles - and the machine handles great. Still a ton of break in needed though. As far as accessories go the stereo is a really nice addition. The half windshield does bend a little from the wind at high speeds.

We put on a 20 dollar 5 panel 160 degree rear view mirror - "installed" it in 2 minutes with zip ties - it works really great.

Does anyone know a guide to setting up toe and camber? I'm looking at the wheels and they seem a bit off...

Are there any service manuals available for this thing?

Thx!

You can order some MS M-24529 caps for the zerks from any aircraft supply company if you really want to keep the crud out. The ball and spring does it's job though.

As far as alignment, unless you have aftermarket a-arms you can only adjust toe in the front. Your manual should have the spec.

Took the commander on a short 10 mile gravel and rock trail today and my impressions are that it's amazing! The handling is great, the adjustable driver's seat is great, comfort of ride for all four passengers is great, fuel consumption also looks very reasonable, although for such a short distance it's hard to come up with numbers. Coming from an atv I did notice some specifics - a heavier shoe or boots would be useful because my foot jumps around a bit on the gas pedal together with the machine. The breaks still need to start gripping more.

Overall very, very happy with the purchase. This is a very versatile vehicle with room for four and plenty of luggage, great handling and ride.

Hard to explain but try using the right side of your shoe against the side panel to slow down your foot. The fly by wire throttle on the sxs took me a while to get used to also.

Today more testing on a rough rocky trail, with four people and about 120 pounds of cargo. The commander handles very well, although some additional height is needed at the back. I will see what can be done by adjusting the shocks. Some upgrades are planned for cab storage - pockets on the seat backs and little trays and holders here and there. The glove compartment, the rear console storage and bottle holders are good, but no way enough to put the little things everybody has - sandwiches, sunglasses, repellent etc. A mesh net for the box that hooks onto the cargo cleats is going to be very useful. And blinkers. Definitely need blinkers.

So. It turns out that the winch remote on this model is an option. I think this is pathetic. Why am I paying for the most expensive limited version, which already has the winch, but doesn't have a remote? How am I supposed to safely winch this vehicle while being inside or having to stand next to it and reach inside to press the button? This is a strange "marketing" decision...
