Fuel Pump problem?

1277 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Clhart22
Hi to all. About three weeks ago I replaced a bad fuel pump in my renegade 500. Well the new one sounds fine if the bike is cold and hasn't been ran. But if I take it down the road and turn it off, once I turn the key to let the fuel pump prime it makes an awful screeching noise. I can unplug the main wire of the pump and plug it back in and all is good? Any thoughts are appreciated.

was it a BRP or an aftermarket pump? Sure sounds like you got a defective replacement.
Stock BRP fuel pump is one pricey piece of pooh! Get the NAPA Toyota one.
BTW it will help a bit to insulate as much as you can upon re-assembly.
It's an aftermarket one. I got it from advanced auto. I don't have any sputtering or anything when I ride. It actually runs like it should.
