Hi all.
I have picked up an hd5 that got over heated and seized the top end.
Soooooo
I can either try to rebuild it as it is or look at fitting a 800.
I understand the defender 800 uses a separate gearbox where as the 500 uses engine/box unit.
This makes it a larger job as mounts are quite different.
However what about an outlander engine?
Is it 2 parts or 1 like the 500?
If one part would it be possible to fit the twin 800 in place of the single cylinder 500?

Unfortunately the only combo that works is the 450 engine that is in it. Im sure you could put the the 800 in it but you are talking a ton of dollars between engine and gearbox and intake, ecm, harness. You could maybe get a big bore kit from mr rpm that would fit it. Probably be your best bet.
