been looking at commanders for awhile now and think I’d like to get one. I can get a 2020 800r for somewhere around 13,500 locally out the door. Neighbor has a 2015 1000 xtp with 4500 miles, a winch, windshield, roof, and back windshield for 11,500. Is 4500 miles pretty high? What should I look out for when checking it out

in all honesty miles do not really matter its all in how things are maintained... i have never looked at the miles when buying a car since you can have to identical veh where one has a great maint record and the other does not. 9 times out of 10 the veh with the good maint record you will have no issues with... I had 13000km on my old cat and the guy that bought it did not hesitate to buy as i had ever receipt for service and repairs all done well before needed. Give it a good once over a good sign of maint is all the grease able items show sign of newish grease, Pull the plugs on the diffs and see how the oil looks.. See if he has receipts for maint and other work. You could even go to your local dealer and see if he has been their for servicing

To add to above, it also depends what kind of miles. For an example a couple years ago I was in a quad rally and it took us 7 hours to do 15 miles because of the muskeg. My quad is 8 years old now and has mayne 700 miles (I dont remember the exact number). But they havent been easy and as mentioned, maintenance to match the machine and its uses is more important than just a number.

this.. for $2k more you have a brand new machine.. that there is pretty good piece of mind for me. however an 800 vs 1000 is a difference for sure. Maybe buy new and see if your neighbor is willing to part with some of those accessories?
