Who is running light bars on their outlanders?

Where/how did you mount them?

thanks.

I installed mine on the linq rack - pain in the butt but clean and secure, especially if you have the front grill installed.

I'm relaying the following instructions from memory so if the size of the nuts/bolts isn't spot on, they're damn close. If you go this route; here's how I recommend going about it:

Step 0 angle your LED bar prior to installation and make damn sure the angle before performing the steps below. This can be achieved by resting the LED bar in it's brackets and set on the linq rack. Connect your wiring and switch and test against a wall. Make sure the beam is inline or centered with your low beam.

1-start removing both (black) T30-35 torx bolts from the upper front grill to the linq rack (you'll need an extension for your bit in most cases and accessing between the linq rack and body above the headlamps
2-loosen the 10mm (silver) nuts on the lower portion of the front grill mounting location (do not remove)
3-Remove the 2 silver 14mm bolts that secure the front of the linq rack up near the headlight assembly (They're at a 45degree angle)
4-Remove the 13mm grade 8 gold bolts securing the black bracket at the top of the fender that connect the linq rack
5-loosen the adjacent 5/8" (gold) plastic tap screws underneath each (black) fender next to the 13mm grade 8 bolts removed in step 4 - you'll be using a wrench to extract these and lifting the linq rack to gain clearance until the screws are fully extracted
6-Lift and flip over the link rack and install your LED bar - make damn sure you position it how you want it and lock-tite the allen screws and all hardware. If it moves or shifts you'll need to perform the above steps over again to make changes.

------------------------------
Installation:
Start installing the torx bolts from step 1 and leave them loose (you'll need to use a small tool to center the hole before trying to start the bolts
Install and leave loose the screws in step 2
Install the screws from step 5 however leave them loose enough you can start the bolts in step 4 then work both of these screws/bolts on each side until nearly snug but leave loose
Snug up the bolts in step 3 but don't torque
Snug up the screws/bolts from the previous step and torque all rack bolts
Snug and lower grill nuts and upper torx bolts and then torque to complete

-------------------------------

I ran my LED wiring harness direct to the battery via relay to a switch on the front. I plan to add a small waterproof fuse panel off the battery instead as I install the HID's in the low & hi beam locations. Let me know if you have any questions.

Ok,,,I’ve got my Rigid 10” light bar. There must be someone on here with a later model xtp outlander with one of these mounted on the front bars/tube in front there. It looks to me like ya gotta use the top bar or the side bars,,lower bar area looks to be to narrow. I’d love to see how someone has theirs mounted exactly,,what mounting brackets did you use?,,etc,,etc I just have it sitting on the rack in this pic & don’t want to mount it up there.

I have some ideas,,,there may be a better way out there though,,,anyone?

Measure the size of tube of the bumper and get some tube mounts

Hold the light where you would like to see it mounted, then take a few measurements above, below & to the sides. Then search online for "atv light bar mounting brackets" you will find just what you want with all the measurements you need, & a lot of pictures.

Look @ the pic of my machine,,totally different bar/tube setup on the front,,it’s a 2018 xtp 1000
I measured,,,it appears I need something that drops down about 5” from the top bar & will hold the 10” Rigid outward some so as to not hit my body area where the BRP badge is. I’ll say once again,,this is why I was looking for someone with a newer bike/xtp with a 10” Rigid on it. I don’t think it’s as simple as getting any 1.25” round mounting brackets & just throwing it on there.
I appreciate all the replies/help from you guys. I’m gunna wind up getting something (perhaps these) & having to rig something up with em to make it work,,we’ll see.:th_smiliewavey:

How many watts are available for those lights?

Lets say you have heated grips, low and high beam on, what's reasonably left for that bar and to leave some amps to charge the battery?

There's no limit to the wattage of those bars on amazon or rigid, so I just wonder if anyone knows how high we can go without issue?

For $10 it's worth the risk in my opinion. My 17 DPS has the same hood/bumper dimension, no? Depending on the rigid bracketry, mating up should clear as long as your mounting bolts aren't too far beyond the nuts. if they are you can trim them down and it should fit well. Otherwise a 10 should also fit the lower. Otherwise install some 55w HIDs in the hi/low and call it a day ?

Wow that rigid light bar sure looks very nice and quality, but it's like 500$ CAD+tax.
That would make sense on industrial equipment like a business snow tractor, or a rider that really uses it alot at night.

Personally, I would use mine just occasionally or for plowing snow, so I would get something much cheaper to get light above the plow.
What do fellow canadians run off amazon.ca or other canadian seller that would be cheaper and "decent" quality at a cheaper price?

I see that matts recommended the willpower unit, they have it on amazon.ca, will have a look. they even sell the switch/relay.

They have this bar:
Willpower 22 inch 324W Tri Row Flood Spot Combo Led Light Bar Driving Lights for Boat Off Road SUV Truck ATVs

And this relay/switch:
Liteway One-To-Two Universal LED Light Bar Wiring Harness Kits 24V/40A Relay ON-OFF Blue Laser Rocker Switch Weatherproof(2 Lead 12ft) (good for 500w)

looks like a winning kit to me.
324w is a lot of power though, the magneto is 625w, so I wonder if that will overpower the system.
lows are 55w, highs are 60w, so 230w of lights.

Or get the 15 inch at 216w and not using it with high beams saves 120w, so it's just adding 100w to the reg load.
Or replace lows and highs with led bulbs also to reduce load....

That 22" Willpower is a beast. You could just run with that on and it's 324w Will seem negligible.

Opt-7

A riding buddy of mine recommended his OPT7OPT7 - LED & HID Lighting for Cars, Trucks & Motorcycles LED bars, and I couldn't be happier with the pricing quality and customer service so far. I got a 14" AND 22" bar for around $50, they carry a 2yr warranty. Super bright, harness kit makes install a breeze, can't beat the pricing or the warranty. HTH,

It doesn’t fit between bars to mount to the bottom,,,you can mount it on one of those plate like mounts(I don’t know wth there called) or use mounts on the sides of this light bar.,there’s no mounting it from the back of it. It also has a large oval heat sink coming off the back,,,I think a lot of other manufacturers have this tho,,perhaps I’m wrong. I don’t know if it’s just like a 17 DPS,,have no idea. I ordered some brackets,,they were like $25,,if they don’t fit I’ll try to make em fit,,no biggie. Someone else mentioned getting some @ tractor supply,,,I have one close,,,I’ll be checking there if need be. I’m probably being a tad anal about where & how I want this thing exactly,,,I’ll get mounted soon/eventually. Thanks

I went with the 15 inch flood/spot combo. It’s the Walmart one so we will see how it holds up. These 570’s have the worst headlights I’ve ever seen so installing a light bar was a necessity! Walmart has the wiring harness to go with the light. It’s literally plug and play.

Opt7 is usa though so its out of the options for canada imo as shipping and tax or duty will cost more than the bar.

Sorry,,I never chimed back in here with my results. Guy @ rigid was VERY helpful in helping with what mounting brackets I needed for where I wanted to mount my 10” from them,,on there site it’s part number 42540,,it JUST fit. I’ll put a cpl pics up of it in near future.
