Anyone have looney tune exhaust on their XMR?

I'll chime in since I'm not seeing any responses to this. Alot of folks are running the LTE's on the XMR. Some full duals and some just slip ons. I ordered mine a little over a week ago. Richard at LTE has been very helpful and responds to my emails pretty quick. I opted for the ceramic coating to keep the heat down and less mud staining. Also ordered the quiet cores. Richard pre-welded O2 bungs in for the tune monster if I ever decide to go that route too.

The LTE slip on(which i run on my xmr), which in my opinion actually sounds better than the full duels(I've heard both), the duels are louder, but the slip on is deeper sounding).

And just to throw this out there if ya dont know, you wont need a tuner, and o2 bung sensors, and all that other stuff that comes with a tuner with just the slip on. Some people suggest it but its not necessary at all unless your running full system with the duels.

LTE sounds great and is very loud and very deep, deeper and louder and in my opinion better quality than HMF.. plus EVERYONE has HMF.

Another deep sounding one thats loud and has its own distinctive sound that is good quality is Ron Woods. Muzzy is similar to HMF for sound but a little better quality than HMF, and again not EVERYONE has it.

I like to be somewhat different than everyone else. To me, and where i ride, and who with, HMF is all you see. Nothing against HMF, I just think as far as exhausts, and exhaust systems go, Ron Woods, Muzzy, and LTE are better than HMF.

I see so many bikes with HMF exhausts that it wouldn't surprise me if they came stock on can am's in years to come. I think(and this is just my opinion maybe) everyone has HMF because they for the most part, really good sounding, and are the cheapest out of every kind of exhaust I've mentioned.

I have the slip on and I bought at the time cuz nobody was using... now everybody loves the LTE "Looney tuned exhaust" on my Outlander 800r XXC. I was going to get the ron woods but they didn't offer a quiet core and I wanted it for hunting. For the price of the LTE slip on nothing beats it sound or power.

Here is a LTE slip on

In my garage.. but you can get an idea of the low tone to it..

I now have the Dual Muzzy .. I really liked the LTE, the muzzy don't seem to be as low of a tone.. just has more of a snap to it.

Hopefully by tomorrow. I received my LTE slip on last week, but had a problem locally with the guy powder coating my stock header. It has been redone and I have it back. Should all be going on tomorrow. I did put an O2 sensor in the stock header...a tuner may not be required, but why not make sure it is running at its best.

I have a LTE slip-on on my Xmr1k and I love it. Took a bit of swearing to get it to fit right, but it's on there now. I bought a programmer for the machine but have yet to install it. The bike runs fine and sounds absolutely awesome wide effin open, the only problem I've noticed is that the black coating is starting to peel a bit, this might be due to higher egt's. But, who knows...I'm gonna install the programmer regardless just for a piece of mind.

Hey guys, Ceramic coated header, LTE slip on, PC5 and Autotune went on yesterday. Pretty straight forward. Once I figured out which way the aluminum spacer went for the lower hanger all of it went together pretty quick.

Sounds awesome....real low and raspy at idle and a light throttle and screaming loud when you get on it....

I have been reading up on wether or not I need a tuner or not for my 14' 650xmr. Some guys say it is not necessary if you have a 650 but it is if it's a 1000. If I don't have to spent the $200+ on a tuner I won't. I was just going to put on a LTE slip on.

I am no mechanic but what I can tell you is when is when I hooked up the PC5 and auto tune and put the pipe on and started it for the first time the A/F was at 15-16. DynoJet recommended 13.1-13.2. The auto tune made the adjustments and took the bike right to it, without it you aren't running where you need to be. Any mechanics or experienced guys feel free to chime in...

Jayse, Did you have a full or slip-on exhaust installed on your outty? If you have a full system the exhaust size complete changes and a fuel tuner is highly recommended, but a slip-on is only changing the end of the exhaust where there is sound being produced. Please let us know. A fuel tuner will always help if set up correctly but you may not feel any noticeable difference in performance either. I have ran the lte slip-on since day one 100+ hours on the exhaust no issues.

Are you saying that since it's a slip on it doesn't need to be rejetted? That's the only thing that is stopping me for buying a lte slip on exhaust. If all I need to do is just install it and be done with it with no tuning then I'm on. I'm going to put it on a xmr 650. Thanks.

Hey guys, I just have a slip on LTE pipe.

As for the Tuner...I have seen a ton of debates on whether or not a tuner is required. As previously stated, I am no mechanic... but, it is clear that the stock exhaust is very restrictive....look up the threads where they have cut one open, its a 3 pass system and the 2nd pass is barely over an inch in diameter. Second to that the quad is set up a little lean from the factory. So, given that you drastically improve the exhaust flow and let the bik breathe better (also most upgrade the stock air filter as well) it only leans out the bike even more. Run any motor too lean and you will damage it. Thats why I bought a PCV and Auto Tune. When I started the bike for the first time with the tuner and pipe on, the AFR the sensors were reading were like 14-15. should be just above 13. So in the end its your own decision, you can do your homework, or listen to mechanics, guys that say do it, don't do it etc...There is many that have not gone with the tuner and are just fine....I errored on the side of caution. I have read about a few guys with warped heads etc...for me personally I weighed the risk and I went with the tuner. I hope this helps, in no way am I giving you guys advice, just telling you what I did and why.

Also it is pretty snappy now, because I put the pipe and the tuner on at the same time I cant tell you how much is from the tuner....for sure the pipe would have an effect...as it lets the bike breathe better....I guess a little more proof????

On a side note, It took 3-4 rides for the fuel maps and trims to get dialled in.

Oops pre mature reply haha

I just put a big gun slip on on my 650 xmr. And installed snorkels last week. When I had the bike apart I pulled the plugs and checked them just to see what was happening inside. An they were pretty white meaning lean, scares me enough to go get a optimizer for it. Vforce told me I wouldn't gain much power with a tuner. Not sure about his thoughts on how lean the motor gets.
