loud humming coming from some where

So I took my quad out for a ride and now It has a loud hum that is loudest when over 30 mph and speeds up for slows down as you speed or slow the atv down. It only does it when the quad is under power. that is when you let off the accelerator and coast it goes away completly. We did have the quad into some deep water but nothing deeper than 2 inches below the wheel wells. it sounds like its coming from the back but its really hard to tell from on top of the atv. Any ideas guys. when I get back from work I'd like to have a few things to try and see if I can fix this problem or atleast know what it is and if I need to worry about it.

Keep us posted. Good to hear of any new noises that may come up for the 1000s. Cheers.

I have 2010 Max 400 with exactly the same noise. It's never been in the water or any hard trail. It started after 15 hours of use or so, and it's still there. I've never found the reason.

update : i found where the sound is coming from :(

so i finally got the quad up on a stand today and we found were the sound is coming from. Its coming from the rear diff. we even took the clutch cover off and road it around to see if the sound was possible coming from there. and its definately coming from the right side. when the bike drives past with the right side towards the observer you can easily hear the sound it makes and its harder to hear when he rides the other way with the left side exposed to the observer. So I'm thinking the right wheel bearing is giving out. It only has 15 hours on it. I'm going to drop it off at the dealer next week and let them have a look at the problem cause with only 15 hours i'll let them fix it (under warranty).
