Mechanical or electric water temp gauge?

I have a 2012 outlander 1000xt. I want to put a temp gauge on it. So instead of spending $400 for the xtp gauge, I want to put a small gauge on the side. There has been many write ups. They have all helped! But wondering what type of gauge I should use. I know the mechanical is more accurate, but I don't know if that will work well on the atv. Or should I just go with the electric style? Just looking for some advice to see what others have been doing
