I thought with quiet cores and spark arrestor the sound was suppose to be close to stock decibels ???
Muzzy is loud
WOW! Just took out the new dual slipons (w/quiet core & spark arrestor installed) w/digituner out for its maiden voyage. Did 63 kms of back roads so I was cruising between 60-80 kmh for most of the ride and WOW!!My ears are ringing. Im pretty sure I will be using ear plugs from now on. I knew what the muzzy would sound like when you are riding behind it or standing around it because my buddy has them for his Outty, but I never realized how loud it is when riding it. It sounds awesome, but DANG my ears!

And that is why I have RJWC slip ons. They may not produce the power of a muzzy, ( a couple of HP less) but no earplugs needed. Just a nice light rumble. I have the full system and it's not loud at all!!!! When the throttle gets pinned it might be but even then it's not obnoxious...
Something is not right with that muzzy.
If I put the quiet cores in mine and the spark arrestors I can't hear it unless I jam the throttle absolutely wide open.
I wonder if they forgot to put the packing in the mufflers?
Mine has 1,500 miles on it and I run it with no inserts in it and I still have to turn my helmet sideways to hear the pipe over the wind noise.

I've seen that vid too and was one of the many vids that made me get Muzzy. But they sound even better in person! I never had the chance to take the guts out of mine, but will when I get the new machine and exhaust. To the OP, i'd say you have something missing with yours, other than the inserts.

Almost sounds like there's no quiet core or spark arrestor....but sounds good to me!!!!!

Are you 100% sure the quiet cores are installed and installed properly? Spark arrestors too?
I know mine came with the spark arrestors in a bag of parts. I had to insert them.

Mine came straight from Muzzy, came with everything installed already. I'd think you would know if you had extra parts laying around, but may be possible that they didn't install them from the factory. I know when I got HMF muffler it didn't come with a quiet core....
yep the cores and arrestor are in there. we opened it up to be sure. I didn't re-use the exhaust gasket cuz it was cooked and so I put a brand new one in. Theres no leaks at any of the joints anywhere. It really doesn't sound any louder than my buddies Outlander duals. Guess we just have loud ones. lol.
Hmm weird. Maybe call Muzzy and ask them? I have a vid of mine, tho is new, is not loud at all....almost as loud as yours at idle when mine is wide open lol....

you guys got me wondering and so I went out to check for leaks around the mufflers themselves and could just lightly feel air coming out from around the back of the muffler in between the muffler and the plate, but its very faint and I cant see it making much of a difference. Do you think that would make that much extra noise?
