Just got a 2014 xmr 650 from an older gentlemen who only put 17 hours on it. Took it out today and was pretty impressed. Only complaint would probably be the tires. Wondering if anyone has taken off the mudzillas and replaced them with a lighter tire and gained any power? Out of the hole the quad seems very sluggish but once it's moving it feels great, I would think this would be caused by trying to turn such a heavy tire. Buddy just got some swamp lites and I really liked them and how they preformed in comparison to mine. I wasn't looking to do a clutch kit, just hoping a lighter set of tires will get my take off a little better. Next question is what should I be doing/checking for now that i have roughly 25 hours/300 miles?

Welcome fellow NY'er, I cant help with tires. But I would change all fluids and check electrical connections. Order some Race Driven brake pads as the originals are probably shot. A clutch kit will help with power and is cheaper than a set of tires.

Where in this great state are you from ?
I'll check the pads and keep that in mind. I'm about 25-30 minutes north of Syracuse. Should I know anything in advance that would help me out changing the fluids? I wanted a couple videos of a guy changing everything on a 1000 so I'm hoping it's the same
Everything should be the same as a 1k. Pretty easy if your used to turning wrenches. The video's do help familiarize your self to the location of things. Maybe I'll see you sometime. I run Tug Hill allot. Starting May 2nd.
