Greetings All~
I am in the Alaska interior. I am in the middle of purchasing a new 2020 XMR 1000r with 2up seat, heated grips, 32 gallon rear box, relocated rad, medium windshield & faring w/cup holders, truck ramps, and a 2 axle meat wagon. Most of my time will be spent in the mountains building a cabin about 30 miles away from the nearest road. It is either I get this workhorse or buy an airplane that can land on water and carry supplies. I cannot use a side by side as it will not fit between trees unless I cut down about 30 miles of trees to make a wide enough path. Besides, I need every bit of the 91 horse power. Going to be interesting! EZD4!ok7(rcS79

Don’t know if you have any installed or not, but I would add some skid plates because they will offer ALOT more protection from rocks and sticks that you will encounter as you drive through the woods. As far as you are going to to be riding, one bad hit couldn’t ruin your day and cause you to be walking a long ways...

Oh! Just remembered an improvement on the 2020 model that I have that nobody has mentioned! The bumper ends are steel! Upgraded from the plastic that always breaks! :D
Lol they started that in 2019 so nothing groundbreaking there ?

Yes, skid plates is next on the list. May go with the Aluminum because of the cold temperatures.

Looks awesome! Have the part number for that windshield? By chance. I like it. The hand warmers are awesome use mine a lot. You will love the bike. They are a beast.

Windshield and faring numbers pictured below. Have to get both pieces. Part number may vary for color. They are the same as used on the 2012 model. I am 5'5" tall. I got the medium windshield and when sitting strait up, my eyes are about 2 inches above the windshield. The mirrors are too small in my opinion but serviceable. Mirrors are separate. Using the windshield with the heated grips makes for a much warmer ride in the cold weather. I am going to get the large windshield too. When I assembled the windshield to the fairing, I did not use the little metal clips that go on the studs. I think the 3 grommets are sufficient to keep the windshield attached and makes for easy swap to a different windshield. 60 mph in the back of my truck was no problem.

I'd say it's definitely a custom color! Natural mud! LOL.. Bet the rider matches too! ? ?

Nice looking machine. That windshield and fairing will fit it really nice. I like the quick release on it too so ya can pop it right off when going out to play hard.
0 degrees out right now. Fired it up to go check the mailbox at the end of the street. Decided to try the grey key.. not the greenhorn key. put it in sport mode too. Damn that thing will wake up! been using the greenhorn key and eco mode for breaking in period. Got 40 miles and 10 hrs on it so far.

That's right! Big game and other goods! Looking at a cabin about 20 to 50 miles away from nearest road. Need something like that for many uses. Especially when access is only by snowmachine or ATV.

Got my new large windshield! It is about 3 inches higher than my head when sitting on my machine! Way better than the medium windshield for keeping the wind off ya! Still using just the three rubber grommets to hold the windshield on. No clips. No problems with it staying on and secure.

That's awesome, ive been looking for a while to see if anyone has put one on an xmr and this is the first one I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of them. Had done some research and couldn't find anyone that knew if it would work, dealer here included. Wasn't sure how they worked between the speedometer and the rad. But now I've finally seen it works and can pick one up before next winter. Thanks again, do like the look of it too.

Very nice! Sounds like lots of adventures are in your future. We have been working on our cabin for quite a few years now and have lots of stories to tell... Just picked up a Defender 6x6 to make a few more memories!

You will love it! I like both the medium windshield and the large windshield. Most likely the medium for summer to cut back on bugs between my teeth, and the large for winter because it blocks the wind so well. Cup holders are really nice too. I plan on mounting a 2 meter radio on the base of the cowl below the windshield. Like to have communications to at least listen to search and rescue and big trucks. Who knows, I may end up assisting search and rescue some day. Better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it.

When installing the assembly to your handlebar, you will need to loosen up the clamps that hold the handlebar to the steering shaft to adjust the pitch so the fairing will fit perfectly to clear the display housing. I aligned the front point to the top edge of the rad support housing. Everything clears by a quarter of an inch. The pieces are so precise you cannot adjust the fairing mount clamps on the handlebar. You can do side to side about one eighth of an inch. The assembly cannot be used if you have the snorkel kit installed. Can only have one or the other. Seeing as I have no intention of navigating deep water, I opted out of the snorkel kit. Can always do a home made custom snorkel if needed. I do not care for the mirrors as the adjustment range on them is made for midgets. I have mine tilted all the way up and still not the best. May look into softening up the plastic on them with heat to twist them up another 10 degree angle. $50 bucks for the mirror kit is not bad.
