Outlander 400 seizing....stalling

842 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Milsurp
So the other day my Outlander 400 belt starts to smoke a bit, then stop. Didnt worry about for a few days, until my belt blew up unexpectedly.

Put on a new belt, all is fine for a few days, but now when driving along it seizes up and comes to a halt then stalls. I cant see anything wrong with the primary or secondary. It almost seems like the engine is seizing, but that doesnt explain the blown belt. Any ideas? I havent seen anything like this before.

When I let the machine cool down it is good again for a few minutes.

Ever swamped it? Possibly crank bearings?
check the secondary to see if it's "cock eyed". Bushings may be done in secondary and not running straight or true.
Could a screwed up helix be stopping the secondary which in turn stopping primary next engine? Worth a look to pull both clutches off.
Thanks for the great tips guys. I hope to have it working this weekend. Cleaned up the clutch, found a bad bearing in the primary.............hopefully not a crank bearing. I'll run it some more and see what happens.
