Outlander 450L questions?

Hi guys... new here and in the market for an ATV. I'm looking at getting my kids into riding. They are 7 and 9. I am looking for something to head out into the trails with them. I have had my eye on a couple. Initally I was looking at the Polaris Sportsman 570 until I went into my local ATV shop. I was checking out some of the Can Am products. I really like the Outlander 450L. It's in a similar price point to what I was looking to spend on the Sportsman. I am looking for something for the trails, but I also want something that has some get up and go. I just don't want to get the 450L and have regrets because it is slow. Can anyone give me feed back on this model such as power or top speed? I know they make a 500, but it is just out of my price range for what I am looking to spend.

Thanks guys

450l

I am finally coming back, after a long absence... sound like a road Wild1 and myself went down awhile back. In 2006 we bought 2 2006 Outlander 400 max xt's,2 up's and looking back, never regretted it once. The kids have grown up now, and we are looking at getting a used 2004 330 for Bear. We intend to run the 06's till next year and then move on to new units. We looked at the 450L and were rather impressed. As for slow, how fast do you really need to go, with children with you. On typical trail, the average speed was 25 to 35 mph, and we would typically do between 100 and 125 mile a day, with the kids. I would strongly recommend 2 ups with the longer wheelbase, makes a big ride difference, more stable, more comfort.
If you really want the power of the 500 you could buy the non dps model for I think less than 450 dps model. As long as your ok with no power steering.
