Outlander l shock upgrade fox

Nobody can confirm that fox shocks fit on an outlander l model. Can-am doesn't list the l model as fitting with the $580 dollar fox shocks. I have a 2015 outlander l 500 max and they fit. Good news. I risked it and it is a direct easy fit. I had a super atv lift and removed it because the shocks lifted my machine another 2 inches because of spring. I took like an inch off the preload they came with. The rear lift bracket hit a little bit the stock mounts are fine. I can actually monster truck over obstacles now. I wish someone confirmed the fit sooner. A must upgrade for outlander l. I found myself bottoming out a ton in New Hampshire. I will confirm performance after next long ride. It resulted in about an inch of lift over stock I would say. Anyone want to buy my stock shocks?

New Fox shocks arrived today, two of them were in their own plastic bags but the other two were packed bare and put next to each other and had some spots where the paint wore through from friction. That's a stupid way to pack and ship them. Bought them on Ebay from www.powersportsxpres.com for $510.27 total.
Also, 8 M10 flange lock nuts were included.

i didn't grease mine...i usually grease everything i can but i figured grease is also a dirt magnet so in that application i though it was best not to.

I didn't grease them. The stock ones didn't have any grease in them. So I just put them on as they came. But I guess it couldn't hurt.

The springs that come with the Podiums will be too light of a spring rate for the Outlander. The fronts will be fine but not the rears. With time the rear springs will sag under the weight. Most people are swapping over their original springs onto the Podium shocks. 650 XMR springs are also another option for those who want to gain ground clearance.

After 3 years I have no complaints with my Podiums after adjusting the preload correctly for my taste.

The $995 Elkas are not going to impress you. They won't have many if any adjustments and won't perform great. If you are serious about fixing the suspension you need to get into a much better shock. The higher end Elka's are OK In my personal opinion, but that Fox shock set linked above is better yet.

Ouch. That escalated quickly.

Anyways, here is what I'd like to know. The actual spring rates for an Outlander "L". The actual spring rates on these fox podiums. I can't find anything anywhere.

Dont waste your money on the $500 can am fox podiums out of the accessory catalog, I did and was very disappointed, spring spacers on the stock shocks has the same result. If you want a very different and improved ride and handling bike get elka stage 4 or real fox podiums from FOX racing. It makes the bike safe and faster. Money is not an object when it comes to my safety or life. these shocks will keep you from losing control and wrecking if you like to ride fast.

OK. This took me all dang day off an on, but I have this all figured out.

Stock springs for the Outlander 450/500/570 (G2L chassis) = 85lbs front 88lbs rear. Max springs are the same rating, they are just a hair longer.

Fox upgrade suspension upgrade p/n 715001471:

front
spring p/n 706201268
spring rate 102.8/171.3
free length 320mm
wire size 8.83

Rear
spring p/n 706000955
spring rate 74.2/114.2
free length 311mm
wire size 8.71

I agree with above, I put the podiums on my 570 and just got back from putting 300 miles at Hatfield and McCoys. They are a huge upgrade over the stockers. I went through every kind riding there and I was very happy with the podiums. For just a basic shock upgrade I would say they are well worth it.

Plus...the springs match the plow now....LOL...

Making me think I should have gone a bit bigger on her tires though....du'oh!
