Outlander questions

Hey guys I'm considering a new outlander but have a few concerns, how are they on very slow technical trails? As in on and off the throttle under 5 MPH? Obviously using low range how do the CVTs act under those conditions? I have never driven a CVT, all I've rode is Hondas.
Also in regards to maintenance, most I see is Can am's are hard to work on, is this because of removing the plastics? I am talking regular maintenance, oil changes, etc.
