Outlander xxc or xtp which one??

Hey guys, i'm in the market for a new outlander and don't know which one to get. I like the idea of the xxc with the upgraded shocks but don't know if it is worth the extra expense. Also didn't know if you could fit a winch in between that new bumper. I really like the idea that it is based on fast trail riding/racing. The xtp seems like it is a better deal and cheaper since it comes with the bumpers and winch. In reality, I don't know how much i will use the winch just nice to know you have it just in case. The majority of my riding will just be trial riding. No extensive mud riding. If I were to get the xtp, I would upgrade the shocks to the hpg's for better ride. I've heard that the suspension on the xxc is not as soft as the xtp, is that true. I won't be wide open very often so I would like it to be comfortable while riding. Anyway, thanks for listening and let me know what ya think.

If the winch and bumpers are all you want on the XTP...why not just get an XT? And it is still cheaper than the XXC or XTP...I have an XTP and all you get is paint and fender flares...I bought a 2010 in 2011 and got a great deal...if I had bought a 2011 I would not have paid the extra and just got an XT...just my $.02...

I have seen a XXC with a winch and the stock bumper.

Sounds to me like you should go for the XXC you will probably spend more if you get the XT or XTP then have to shell out for aftermarket shocks

The XXC also gets you a different front susp geometry that handles better so I was informed.

the shocks on the xxc,,,work better the faster ya ride,,,the stock shocks on the outlander are like marshmellows,,,great for riding slow,,,ya throw on the hpgs on the xt,,,you'll be in the middle,,,ya throw on some crutchfields,,,better,,,if ya like ridin fast,,,get the xxc,,,if ya ride fast just once in awhile,,,the xt with better shocks,,

Agreeded!

If your trails are smooth and not rocky and you ride fast then get the xxc. It all depends on where you ride! I'd have one of I wasn't riding on rocky trails.

you can put a winch on the xxc it will cost around $500 tho but they cost the same if u put hpg's i would think or feww $100 i would buy the xxc if i were you looks a lot more cool.. but that choice is up to you.. if money is on your mind just calculate the costs and tell us what you think.

and about the winch you can buy the mounting kit from can am... check ther site ::: http://store.can-am.brp.com/product/382321/715001121/_/Winch_Mounting_Kit

I can say with great authority on this...

My riding buddy has a new XXC Outty. I have a new Max Outlander with properly tuned Crutchfields on it. My Outty is fast. The Crutchfields really do their job well. I like my machine, too bad they don't make a Max XXC. But....

When my buddy got his new XXC, I shagged the hell out of it for a while. I am smitten. I swear to the good God above I love that thing. It's set up right. That sway bar and those shocks are stunningly good. After riding his machine hard, I got back on mine and the VERY FIRST CORNER I damned near rolled it!

If I bought new again, I'd still buy my Max because I hunt and do yard work with it but if I could just afford another machine, I'd have left my Max stock for hunting etc. and just ride the XXC until my arms fell off.

You like to ride... get the XXC. It has racks still. Put some nice mud tires on it, a winch, Ricochets, and the XMR snorkel kit and you're in a forced state of ear to ear grin, I guarantee it!

I repeat, the XXC is THAT GOOD!

yep pretty much what the last guy said,i own a xxc everybody that rides it says wow!its the best handling utility i ever riden and they ever riden.you have to buy the can am winch kit and follow the instructions and cut out the front bumper for the roller fairlead, witch looks cool when its finished.i put different tires on it (bighorns)and rims (hiper sidewiders 2) i put heated grips slip-on exhaust and twin air air filter gel battery ricochet skids,to put on yet a warnert racing rear bumper and chassis spline.you dont really need a programmer unless you take off the air box or mod it up,i want to have the clutch worked on yet thats about it but you may be happy with the stock machine mine did 76mph stock well good luck ,if you want to blow away your buddies buy the xxc

Thanks for all the responses!!! The price here for the xtp is not that much more than the xt. plus I like the color of the xtp. The trails here are a mix of everything rocks, roots, some sand in places. If the xxc is semi comfortable at lower speeds I'll probably get it. If not, it will be the xtp. Can you add the sway bar to the xtp?? Again, thanks for all the input. You guys are making me want one even more!!!

for you man a xxc would be cheaper comes with more features like alum-handlebar, skid plate, hpg's, beadlocks, ready to race, good lookin as well and the list goes on.. if i wanted to put these on my xtp right now it would cost around 3-4 grand and the differnce is only 2 grand from the box.. id say go with the xxc, i didnt have that option when i bought my xtp to get a xxc but i would have if i did

i have an xxc, ridden 5 or 6 times in east tn, awesome bike, rode rincon for 2 1/2 years and it can't be compared, its quick and fast, handles tight trails very well, power steering excellent, only mods you will need will be ricochet skid plate, winch, twin air air filters, radiator guard, make room for gas, it gets terrible gas mileage, and big horns and ready to go, mine was 14,600k out the door

I have both, I usually ride the XTP, the XXC handles nicer, but for banging around trails and climbing stuff I like the smoother ride of the XTP, both are nice bikes, the XXC is lighter and much more maneuverable but I prefer the softer squishier ride of the XTP just cruising around.

Good to know undertakern!! I'm assuming you could make the xxc more squishy with a shock revalve... When you say smoother ride how much are we talking?? Is it a major difference?
Also, how does $11,800 sound before taxes on an xxc?

well I picked the XTP up for me in January....that was 10,200 before taxes and reg (which will obviously vary state to state but no prep, or delivery fees) I had fun riding that around, having the girlfriend on the back once or twice, then I threw her on a buddy's 700 grizzly eps and his 650 brute. Eventually she was hooked and wanted a quad, so I'm at the dealer getting rene footpegs for the XTP, walk over to my salesman start BS'ing what do you have cheap with power steering, we look for leftovers, look for smaller motors. I said what do you want for that XXC thats been sitting here 3 months in the showroom. He said well I need to get numbers for some BRP incentive on my end, how does 10,500 sound. The next day I had a second quad (which she claims is hers and wants me to paint pink).

The good news is the XXC came with rene footpegs already.

As for the ride she's all of 105 lbs soaking wet I'm 190. She was getting bounced around pretty good out of the box so the second say I said take mine with the clutch kit and don't smash the gas too hard and kill yourself, and kept backing off the high speed compression, I softened it up a bit but didn't go crazy for when 190 lbs of me or 240 of my buddy play with it but its much more managable for her. Its rough because its kind of a compromise setting and honestly....I don't know a whole lot about adjusting shocks, was kind of trial and error, I'd imagine if I spent a bunch of time with it I could get it really nice, but its doing well at the moment.

Only problem with it was a torn cv boot on the front left inner and outer at 4 hours, the XTP went through everything the XXC did without an issue, but crap happens, they gave me crap on warranty saying BRP would kick it back as wear n tear, so we just wound up doing it ourselves.

Other than that its been great has about 18 hours on it now, only has skid plates on it, haven't cut down the spine mod and smacked that in yet. The bumper is cut out for the winch and the roller is installed just haven't actually installed the viper winch we bought in the quad yet, its on the list of things to do.

I'm also debating swapping the tires for something a lil more heavy duty, but the holeshots haven't ripped yet and ride pretty nice so I haven't been motivated as of yet, it got through a decent amount of snow and mud but nothing heavy duty.

Haven't snorkeled it yet either because all of our mud pits you can get around with out getting down and dirty and if I want to play the XTP can go swimming.

got to remember,,the outty xxc is a gade with outty plastics,,,its set up for fast riding,,,the xt or xtp,,,stock,,,is set up for average speeds,,personally,,,can't go wrong with either choice,,,i put crutchfields on my max xt-p.. you can ride alot faster with those,,,better ground clearance,,,

#20 ·
most stock machines,,,have softer springs in front,,,grizzly,,polaris,,brute,,can am,,,for the average riders comfort,,,machine like xxc is set up stiffer for speed,,,i personally like it,,for my style of riding,,,but the average rider,,might prefer the softer ride of the xt,,,,but it seems,,most eventually want to upgrade the front shocks,,cause they sag so much,,,can't say,,which machine would be better for your style,,,

Thanks for the input camlaw. I've raced harescrambles on quads for three years and have been racing a dirt bike for the last two. I like the idea of the softer ride at slower speeds but I also like the idea of going faster and having the stability of the xxc. Is the xtp comparable in handling with upgraded shocks and no sway bar? Dang it, I can't decide which one and I'm gong to pick it up tomorrow...

Last question for you guys before I go and buy tomorrow. If I were to buy the xtp and add crutchfield or other aftermarket shocks, would it as stable at higher speeds as the xxc.
