patch it yourself something you should know how to do so if it happens on a trail you can patch it to get yourself home. Patch it from the inside with a rubber patch and you will be good to go. Last time i had a side wall puncture like that i patched both inside and outside.. Just did the outside so the puncture would not catch on anything and possibly rip... Outside patch never came off and it had lots of abuse and rubbing on it.

I once repaired a small sidewall hole like that with superglue. I took the tire off the rim and wedged a screwdriver against the hole to open it up a little bit. I then filled the hole with superglue and knocked the screwdriver out of the tire. The hole closed when I took out the screwdriver and the superglue dried. All said and done, I put a lot of miles on that tire after that and it never leaked. Cheap fix but it seemed to work.

i couldn't trust a sidewall puncture repair.i have a carnivore sitting in my shop with maybe 50 kilometers on it.i took a big chunk out of the side.it didn't puncture but there is a big flap that i epoxied shut, but it's still just an emergency spare to use if i have to order and wait for another one.

Could we see a photo of it please.
It would contribute to our collective knowledge about fixing sidewall damage. Whether to fix and how to fix sidewall punctures is always a dilemma for quad owners. I would have a strong bias for fixing a tire instead of replacing it in order to keep all four tires running as a set.

Do you mean that it just held air or that it was run on occasion to replace a flat tire?
As I recall it never needed to be used after that incident.

It's so much quicker and easier to plug a tire than to put the spare on. Now, had another tire ended up with an even larger and unfixable gash, then that plugged one would've been Plan B.

GlueTread Sidewall Patches - these are specifically made for sidewall repairs. A fairly new product but has received good reviews, even from the guys over at Dirt Trax. Patches on the outside. I keep a kit in my trailer now but haven't used it yet.
That looks pretty cool. I think someone else mentioned super gluing his split back together. This kit also adds the sandpaper and piece of rubber. I think it's a great idea.
