get your shop manual... mine(2013 out max 800r xt) says for the primary it's 89+-6 ft.lb nothing on threads and for the secondary it's 15ft+180 degrees with a NEW stretch bolt nothing on threads.

They say to never reuse the secondary stretch bolt.
called the dealer, they said the mechanics reuse them all the time... wtf now what do I do? Do you guys replace the stretch bolt every time?
Or I guess maybe just torque it to some number and use some blue locktite? No idea.

For the fun of it I'll use a new secondary bolt next time and use a torque wrench to find out what the torque is for +180 degree stretch. That will give us an idea...

 

The OEM bolts both Primary & Secondary are made from used Chinese bungee cord scrap ! (my opinion)
Good made in USA H D Primary & Secondary bolts are re usable and available with proper torque instructions

Oh well, just to be sure, because I don't know what happened to it before, I'll just remove it all, clean, and reassemble with a new stretch bolt and I'll be sure that everything is ok for the future. Bolt ordered, thanks.

Just shows that the dealer isn't always doing the right thing. They just reuse those bolts and don't care, and then when it fails, they just say it's your fault.

 

So anyway.... If anyone knows torque on the 570 let me know. I'm gonna check with dealer but 75 ft/lbs sticks in my head.

 

89 foot pounds and a little bit of blue loc-tite is correct.

I'm going to email you a complete repair manual for your 570. Hang tight. :smile

I am doing the CV Tech Primary upgrade on my 2017 outty 850 XT. Trying to locate torque specs. I know the bolt can be reused and no locktitie is needed. (secondary is a whole different story, but I'm not touching that). Anyone have that # handy? I believe it is 78ft lbs....

 

We never use lock tight on primary!

It's a tapered shaft.

 

Yeah no loctite. Sorry man Ill see if I can look it up, but I think Matt is right 89#

 

Also does the washer that came with the clutch go on before or after the factory washers? He told me but I forgot!

So it only went on one way. Before the factory washers. All on! Will ride it out of the enclosed trailer to blast the dust out of the housing and then put it all back together.

Just need my ECU back!

I just used the washer that came with the cv tech clutch and the factory bolt

 

I just confirmed that putting the supplied cvtech washer on AFTER the stock washers was the correct method for my machine. ECU should be here tomorrow, can't wait to test this out!

 

Yeah yours must be different cuz you have a different machine on the 570 I was told by cvtech and where I bought the clutch that you only use the washer that comes with the clutch and that's it

 

Which CVT clutch are you guys putting on exactly? Iv been looking @ em for a couple months now & believe I’m gunna go with a cvt,,perhaps a secondary as well,,,would it be worth it to do the secondary also? I’m looking for clutches that’ll give my machine MAXIMUM performance. Thanx

 

From my research and taking with Jared from canampartsguy, the CVTech is a great primary. He said it’s the best bang for your buck vs doing just a secondary if you’re opting to do just one. That’s all I looked to do, and just installed it. The secondary I would have gone with is STM. The secondary upgrade really just helps with back shifting.

I hope to take mine out for a ride this weekend, will report back on it.

I didn't like cvtech and went back to stock

 

Say what?! I’ve not read a bad thing about them. What didn’t you like? Got mine installed but have taken it for a rip yet.

Noisy at idle.

Couldn't get a good Ballance of acceleration and top end. One or the other.

I liked stock much better.

 

16000 kms on both primary & secondary bolts. Off multiple times. No issues. Yet.

 

So I took it for a rip. I guess I didn't notice any extra clutch noise? Torqued primary to 75-78 ft lbs. Marked the bolt head on the clutch too.



Between the Monster FI flash, the CV Tech primary and the Yoshi, holy crap!!!!! Sounds like a beast!



Sounds mean, runs mean! I didn't wheelie at all due to the ground being soft and unpredicatble. But I took it for a handful of runs up and down our dirt road. WOW! I can break the tires free already rolling down the road if I stab the throttle. Time will tell when I take it for an actual ride. Jury is still out on having the engine break removed, seems I'll be using my brakes really hard.... Might have to ship it back and get that re instated.
