Howdy! I am new to Can Am cars and the SXS world mostly. I'm in the market for a X RS Turbo RR. I found one that is being sold privately and locally. The owner dumped quite a bit of money into it, but the thing is dirty as hell. Just has dirt and dust all over it. Pretty heavy in the interior mostly, but other parts are definitely dirty. It has about 1,000 miles and around 50ish engine hours. It has 35in tires on beadlock wheels. Gladiator tires. He wants $24,500 for it. All parts it has will be listed at the bottom.

He mentioned something about how the rear tires chirp when gripping the asphalt road (when taking it for a test drive/driving it on the road). I found it a bit strange since I drove another car like this one previously that had about 421 miles and was a year older, but smaller tires with different tread - never "chirped". Again, I am new. Mostly used to dirt bikes and quads. Never experienced this before. 🤷‍♂️

I'm assuming the chirping is normal because of the locked rear diff and larger tires. This car is a 2020.

After test driving it, I noticed the passenger side rear tire had a slightly negative camber(?) if that correct terminology. He said it was because the ZRP radius rods he installed weren't aligned all the way and never noticed it until I mentioned it. I basically walked away from it because it didn't sit well with me, but we spoke again over the phone later and he mentioned how he took the tire/wheel off and re-aligned it - saying it was fixed. I'll be checking it out again tomorrow.

ZRP radius rods have abrasions on the passenger side rods as well.

I've attached a couple pictures. I really like this thing and want to buy it, but just want to be sure.

Aftermarket Parts that were added:

  • SATV lifetime fully boxed upper and lower A arms
  • ZRP full billet radius rods and plate
  • Rear dog bones for lateral strength
  • Rugged radio setup for all 4 seats including Bluetooth music, car to car and intra-car intercoms. 4 headsets
  • STI HD bead lock wheels with new gladiator 35” tires plus a clutch kit to compensate for the extra weight
  • PRP bags in all 4 positions
  • Shock Therapy spring kit
  • Shock Therapy steering rods, links and bump steer kit
  • Shock Therapy race rack
  • Assault racing front end full gusset kit (a must on these machines) - Safari rack with LED pods
  • Rear hydraulic cargo tote carrier
  • Prewired for new in box winch
  • Full glass vented windshield
  • S&B particle separator
  • Walker Evan’s hydraulic sway bar links

Anything to worry about?

Personally, I would never buy an older machine with a ton of aftermarket parts on it. 99% of the time people put that stuff on because they beat the machine and broke the stock parts.

For 24k you can buy a brand new X3, not quite an RR but the amount of risk wouldn't be worth it for me to get something that's probably been beat.

I ended up taking it to a local UTV shop that I trusted and had them inspect before purchasing. Everything was in good working order and they gave it a clean bill of health so I purchased it.

I hear you though and value your feedback, although not every single person will dump this kind of money into a machine because they broke it.
