rear boot gaurds worth it??

im wanting to put boot gaurds on my new xmr because I hate how exposed the cv is. I found what looks to be a pretty stout set of gaurds for 129.00 on ebay. im looking at the youtube vid and the pics and feel that the gaurds will hold more rocks mud ant sticks. any one has issues with this? im just worried that the tired kicking up rocks n sticks and it anding in the guard and it ripps the boot.

I dont have any on mine and havent had a problem. I also think that adding a boot guard could hold more abbrasive material to tear the boot.
I ride mostly mud and trails not really any rocks. When I clean my 650 after rides I get lots and lost of small rocks/pebbles/stones coming out of the factory plastic skid. I could only imagine the amount that could get into the boot guard.

im no fan of them they hold mud and dirt and rubs the boot I broke a axel cuz of the ice build up when I stoped it froze when I went to move it snaped axle

yea that's exactly what I thout, it would hold more then it would actually protect. this is something I fweel canam droped the ball on when it came to protection of the boots. are there any other options for protections? after every real nasty hole or when om running thru sawgrass I always stop and pull off what ever got wraped around the axle.

i ripped two boots off while riding with the factory covers..so i got front and back guards and have had no problems. that being said i would personally get them
