Hi,

I'm getting ready to do my first oil change on a new Outlander Pro HD7, and the user manual doesn't say anything about what oil filter to use, just that it's a "Replaceable cartridge oil filter (paper type)". There isn't a specific kit listed on the CAN AM website for this vehicle either, so I bought what I thought was the closest match.

Before I go draining all the oil out I just wanted to double check if the filter that comes with this kit (RB-X339) is the correct one for the HD7.

I'd also like to know what aftermarket Oil and filters you guys use on your Outlanders with the HD7 engine.

Thanks!

I just get an OEM filter from the dealer or from Rocky Mt. ATV/MC if I am ordering other parts. If I order them, I always get 3 or 4 at a time so I have them on hand. Rocky Mt. will also show you aftermarket filters that they carry if you want one of those. They will work just as well as the OEM filter.

I get Rotella T-6 5W-40 synthetic oil from Wal Mart or Home Depot. Why pay double for oil that says BRP on it.

All those "kits" do are take more money out of your pocket!

Yes it does come with an o-ring and washers.

Here's the kit I bought:

And it contained:
2.5 quarts of XPS 0W-40
1 oil filter (RB-X339)
1 O-ring, and 2 washers.

If the filter, o-ring and washers are about $20, that means the XPS oil is about $26 / Liter. The Rotella is $12 / Liter at the local Walmart.

I looked up the Rotella T6 5w40 engine oil at Walmart and it is indeed half the cost of the Rotax oil! Thank you for the suggestion. It's advertised as Diesel Engine Oil. Is this the correct one? [/URL]

Yes, that is the correct one. I use it in my 3 quads and 3 motorcycles. It is a great oil at a great price. Even though it says it is a Diesel oil, you can still use it in gas engines.

Yes it will be labeled as diesel but it's the correct one. I use it also. (Shell Rotella T6)
