Renegade XMR getting water in airbox [help]

While going through holes maybe to the top of the fender deep sometimes just over the front fenders my airbox is getting water inside. It is not getting water on the side that the filter is on which is where the snorkel attaches. There is no water in my oil and the bike has never been even close to the snorkel deep. If it were the airbox lid then that part of the box would be wet and it's not. Can anyone please give me any ideas of what might be going on? I'm on a riding trip right now and will probably call the dealer when I get back if it requires a bunch of work. The bike is only a month old.

Thanks for any help

Are your caps on the air box drain tubes ? Only place I can think it would come in

I am sure thats how he is noticing it.....by draining those. On the XMR, there are extension tubes so you can reach them better.

I would go through and check all connections and make sure nothing is loose. Also, didnt they have issues with the air filter cover gasket leaking on some?

Or you could just take it to the dealer!

There is a problem with the exhaust melting a hole in the air box.
Take your air filter out and shine a light on the outside of the airbox while looking inside of it, if you see any light in it then there is a hole. If it is really dark out you can shine a light into the inside of the airbox and see if there is any light coming out of it.
If there is a hole I would advise against driving it until it is replaced as the unfiltered air (or water) would be going into your engine.

Easiest way to find your leak.. Fog test it.. Or with soap and water..Tape off your snorkels, stick an air hose in one, blow the air through and spray soapy water all over the snorkel system/belt box and see where it starts bubbling or fog is coming out.

Would have been my next move but with it still under warranty I called the dealer and they told me to just bring it by. I will know sometime next week what the issue was. Just waiting on the ugly brp rad relocate to get here so they can go ahead and put it on also. The radiator didn't stand a chance in the soupy clay holes I was in this weekend

My bike is at the dealer now. I've been doing some research on the 1000s and noticed a lot of people having the heat issue. I'm thinking that might be my problem. It may have melted a hole in my airbox. Hopefully I will know something this week and I will give a update on what the problem was.

Hope you cleaned the bike up good under the plastics...if not I see an extreme riding condition excuse for them not to honour the warranty. But then again you could have a good dealer, I have heard there are a few out there

Got a call from the dealer today saying everything checked out alright. There is no way water inside the clean portion of the airbox is alright. He said that the bike is not meant to go in water above 24" and guarantee water not to get inside anything. I asked him what the mechanic did to check it out and he said that the mechanic more then likely checked all of the fittings and made sure they were tight. It took everything inside me to keep from talking very ugly to this guy. I was more in shock then anything about how basically they were going to send me on my way and act like it was normal to get water inside the airbox.

I did not find out until after I dropped the bike off at the dealer how common it is for the airbox to have a hole melted in it. I called last week and let them know that may be the problem but I'm sure they didn't take any notes. After about 10 minutes of me not giving into his bs he said he would talk with the mechanic and call me back.

Does anyone know how many hours the brp rad relocate takes to install? I believe it has the hours on the papers that come with the kit.

Found the problem. Did a smoke test on the clean portion of the airbox and there is a spot about three inches toward the center of the bike from the drain tube that has a hole from what looks like a bolt. I don't know what the bolts purpose is. The area that it's in is raised up into the airbox. Kinda of where the steering stem comes through at on the bottom. I did just enough to locate the leak. I will let the warranty cover the rest. I found a new dealer to deal with also. The last dealer was completely bs and made me so mad that they cohttps://vimeo.com/167342975uld even get away with the way they treat customers.

I'm glad you found the cause...the bs thing is that YOU had to find it and that dealer couldn't...Good choice on going to new dealer. All dealers are not created equal
