Rebuilding the rear diff on a 2013 Outlander 650 XMR. It took 6 months to get the ring and pinion set and the first thing I noticed is the pinions are different. I just called the shop and they swear this is the right part number for this atv. 703500873 is the part number. First off, the new pinion spins rough if I just place it in the needle bearing and spin it as opposed to the old one which feels smooth and nice.

In the picture below the new is on the left and the old on the right. The top shoulder is cut different where it butts up to the end of the needle bearing and the you can also see the teeth on the left are straight across the top and the one on the right are cut at an angle.

And you can see the one on the left has a smaller bolt hole. Anybody know what's going on here? There are little plastic pieces on both sides under the rear fenders that say G2 and the diff looks like what a G2 is from pics I have found online. So I have to assume this is a second gen rear end.

The fiche lists your parts as follows :
I didn't see the pair listed under a part number .
No prices on website either .

30h70550157010 Teeth Pinion.

30m70550140336 Teeth Pinion.
Thanks for that. But I got the set under the part number 703500873. They both came together and I have no idea what the individual part numbers are of what I got. When I search my part number, I haven't been able to figure it out that way either.

703500873 Can-Am Gear - 10/36 Too Kit - AdeptPowersports

Scrolling down it does list it as fitting your ride.

It says that it replaces 705501570 and 705501403 which I saw in the parts list at Partzilla for your ride.
I had seen that but what confuses me is at that site it says on the main page and at the 2013 xmr 650 individual page:

"Note:
Fits GEN 1 Outlander - 2011-2015 and GEN 1 Renegade - 2011-2015"

I'm working on a Gen 2.

If I pull up one of the old part numbers you listed above like 705501570, on the drawing, the bolt that goes into the pinion to hold the yoke on is listed as a 12mm. A 12mm is what my old pinion is, this new one has a smaller bolt hole.

Everything I'm seeing, this is the replacement for the original parts. Obviously you will need to get the correct size bolt for it.

With that being said, it looks like you could order the original #'s from Partzilla, but I'm betting you would get the same parts that you got with 703500873.

As far as it being a Gen1 or Gen2, what I've read is that the differences between the two is an oil cooler on the engine of one of them and their frames, don't know why they would make that note. Maybe someone else can shed light on that.

Follow up question; in your pictures you only show the 10-tooth pinion, you are changing the 36-thooth pinion also, right?
