Ripped Boot

1205 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Chief...
I ripped a boot yesterday, and have pulled the axle and I cut off the bad boot off for ease of working, and I am going to pick up a new boot kit in a little bit. My question is on removing the cv joint. The bad boot was on the out side (rear axle) and when looking at the service manual it looks like you should be able to remove that cv joint "put in vice and align shaft with joint and pull" but that don't see to work. (I even put a couple pry bars and put quit a bit of pressure and nothing). Help!!!:th_smiliepullhair:

Put in vice and hit the center part with a brass hammer...off the joint comes. Wear gloves...that grease is icky.

^^^2^^^Google Can Am Rear Diff / Axle removal. That will take you to a you tube video by Amos Langsford that will show you how to remove the rear axle. Then google cv boot replacement. Video by CV man will get you straight on replacing the boot.

Thanks, took it over to my brother's house (he has a bigger brass hammer) and 1 good whack and it came off. It's all back together now and am going for a ride tomorrow morning.
