SATV axle - no C clip

I went to install my passenger side axle and noticed it doesn't have a C clip or groove. Are all axles supposed to have the clip where it snaps into the diff? There weren't any end pieces in my diff when I pulled it apart and the end looks chamfered the way I'd imagine it should look.

Yep, its supposed to have a clip. That is an OLD axle!

I'm betting you've become another victim of the notorious Can-Am front right axle tip break. Every Can-Am model with the Visco diff has this happen sometimes. Just a bad diff design. I'm betting the end broke off at the groove where the clip is supposed to be. You'll probably need to fish the tip out of the diff with a magnet. Or just go ahead and crack the diff open. And you'll need a new axle too.

Great... At least I know it isn't in the diff lol Just installed a TorqLocker.
I don't know what you consider OLD satv, but the machine is only 7 yrs old and the lift kit is a cpl yrs newer than that I'm sure. I don't think you can really blame your broken parts on Can Am if you designed your part to fit it... Not bashing you. Just sayin'....

Yep, it sheared the tip clean off. Its an old and well known issue. Pretty much every Maverick owner, early X3 owner, or owner of any lifted Can-Am machine has had that happen. It doesn't matter what brand of axle. The little splined tip past the C-clip is the only bit that's actually engaged in the Visco on that front right axle. It usually happens in 4wd when that FR corner is off the ground and comes down to the ground while the wheel is still spinning. They finally upgraded all the X3's and some of the newer Gen 2 Commander and Mav models to the SmartLok diff, and fixed the issue.

Got you're PM and got you covered.
Beefed up Rhino 2.0s are your best option.

I mean, a Rhino from @SuperATV, right?

Forum member discount, excellent warranty. Not sure how you'd go about getting an exact fit, for their lift otherwise anyway.

That was my thinking too. I'll probably go that direction. I just like floating the question being green to SxS... I appreciate the feedback.
How do I go about getting the discount?

Thank ya kindly. That's crazy that only the piece after the clip engages. Definitely a recipe for disaster. The previous owner broke this one. Hopefully the Rhinos will fare better. I'm not a mud thrasher etc, so I'm betting this won't happen again. If it does at least I know how to fix it and what to look for.
