So I have an outlander 1000xt and it's the best Atv I've ever owned. Smooth, most power, best looking bike out there. I was now thinking of getting a side by side and naturally thought about the commander. I ride trails, hills, climbs, and mud... You think the commander 1000 X is suitable for this? Is the power on it the same as the outlander, fly out I your seat experience?

If you have any friends that have one you really need to drive the Commander and also a RZR S and an XP before you decide. Like you, I love my Can Am. I must, I have 3 Renegades but when it comes to side by sides the RZRs rule. Unless of course you plan to use it for working as the RZRs are more suited for agressive driving. The commander has the bigger bed so it is more suited for working around the house/farm. When our group test drove the Commanders at Windrock when they first came out we all had the same opinion, the Commander is nothing more than a Rhino on steriods. There is one guy in our group that has a Commander. We have to pull him out of a lot of places with our RZRs. He does a little better now in the mud holes that he put a lift kit on it but he still can't keep up with us on the trails or gravel roads. They are starting to have a lot of organized hill climbs around here and the RZRs have won every one of them. I keep thinking Can Am will come out with a sport side by side but even if they do I am afraid it will be throttle by wire like the current Commander.

x2 on what badride said... I had the commander and liked it alot but i wanted to try something diferent, so i got the xp 900. if u want seat of the pants go with the xp, it beats the commander in drag races, it also has amazing ground clearance. the awd on the xp is nice too cause its instant on all wheels, the commander needs the QE from the outlander. clutching is also alot better on the xp, no cluncking and geared rite. the commander seems in stock form for some riders to be geared maybe a little high, so u have to use low alot so your not burning or snapping a belt, wich u here alot of ppl doing..

with this being said if u did get the commander, i still think u would like it..st

I have a 2011 Commander 1000X and LOVE IT!! I go riding up in the mountains and I go mudding and trail riding and also on the dunes, I go everywhere!! And I have yet to get stuck, I out run the Razr 800's and 900's and out climb and beat them on the drag.... Amd I'm bone stock. But again the 900's have better suspension that I wish I had on my Commander, which a lift/long travel is soon to come along with dual exhaust, intake, and programmer but for now I LOVE IT! If they come out with a more sportier side by side in 2013 like I've heard then I will more than likely trade mine in on the new one. But I choose Commander over Razr
