I bought one of those to avoid having to lift heavy LT tires and wheels on the Hunter tire machine just to break a bead.
Tested it on a 17" Ram dually wheel that still had the OE tire from '17 on it. It worked, but only with one person holding the frame on the ground by standing on it, and with a 5' extension on the handle.
Ground down the sharp edges on the part that touches the tire, and one of these days I'll weld a piece of 1/4" rod to it to make it kinder yet to the tire.
So to answer the OP's question, yes it does work. But I haven't tried it on a small and light setup yet. Those are easy enough to put on the tire machine.
