Trying to tell what these two bars are for at the back of my trailer. They rattle and are loud and not sure what they do except maybe save the license plate from getting crushed when tipped. Thinking I would cut them off but thought let's ask as my friends don't have them on their trailers..

I haven't seen those before, but I tend to agree with you that they are there for the protection of your license plate. Before I cut them off, I would see if you could remove them without damaging them, then later youif decide that they were worthwhile you could put them back on.

Other than that, you could go to the manufactor's web page and see if they list it in the discription of that particular trailer.

Let us know what the manufacturer responds with.

They look welded, not really sure how the bars are/can rattle. the license plate may be bouncing off of them, put a piece of rubber between the plate and the bars.
The back gate might be rattling.

same trailer and yes license protection. Mine is out (previous owner). First time I lifted my trailer (empty) to move it, I found out it's purpose 😳 I'm 6'3" so imagine how high I lifted it !
Ended up with a sandwiched license plate 😜

Lol I hear you I'm 6 4 and crushed my plate but the manufacturer said they have to be removed and the bolts are behind the plate so I just took a cutoff wheel and gonzo..

I mounted my license plate on a door hinge bolted onto the rear bar of the trailer. When I back into or out of rough terrain the license plate may bend but Never breaks any part of trailer or mount area.

Great idea my friend borrowed mine and those bars wrecked his lawn lol we were brainstorming ideas and we came up with moving it higher but i like the hinge idea as long as it doesn't rattle
