Just bought an 06 outlander 800 guy said itd been sitting for about 2 years, did a tune up using can am oem recommended and started it up and it's knocking but using a stethoscope it sounds like its coming from the bottom of the rear cylinder right under the spark plug, ive done the research
Of the notorious noises and tested everyway possible but it won't go away id opt for a rebuild thinking it was crank knock but the sounds like 6 inches away from the crankshaft, any ideas? Before i just tear into it

The early V-twin bottom ends did occasionally have bearing issues, but before guaranteeing that's your issue, remove the clutches, both, and test run the engine- briefly- just long enough to confirm or rule out the engine being the cause.

The clutches on these bikes are known for making some racket, as the helix wears or the slider shoes, etc.
