VFJ & STM clutches

I recently picked up a VFJ primary and love it. However, the secondary clunk and rattle seems more annoying than ever. Probably because I am hearing it more now that the noise of the stock primary is gone. So I have decided to pull the trigger on a STM tuner secondary to solve the noise problem, and for the added performance benefits. I would like to find someone who has this exact combo to discuss setup of the primary. I spoke to John, and he runs this combo on his Renegade. He offered his advice for general setup. I know I will have to lighten the base and add weight to the tip. Hopefully there is someone who has this setup on an XMR with 30's that can share some advice. Also those of you running QSC primary's that later added a secondary, feel free to chime in regarding how much adjustment was need versus setup with the stock secondary. Thanks in advance.

Let us know how much of an upgrade the secondary was for a mudder. We know how much the primary gains are but I always wondered how much the secondary gains.

Thanks rvsperformance. I've been told I need a non engine break encapsulated helix. I've been advised that the 45 degree would best suit my style of riding.

I have read and reread beer10t's thread titled VFJ Primary setups, the thread I was looking for but couldn't find when I created this one. Lots of good advice including a few guys with STM secondary's. Unfortunately none of those individuals running both were doing so with larger tires. Anyone running my setup? I guess I could copy what has worked for guys with 26's in an attempt to get closer than Johns baseline for the stock secondary, then adjust from there. I assume I would need to remove weight from the base. Also I'm asking for some forum etiquette advice as I'm relatively new, should I continue this thread, or post in the one mentioned above? Thanks.

I would recommend getting in touch with VFJ on what he recommends for the STM with his primary setup. The QSC primary with an STM that we offer would recommend a 40 or 36 helix with QSCs secondary spring.

As far as changes to the primary due to the secondary being done later, it's usually nothing in the case of a QSC. But that's because they have them set up to work with the same primary settings both ways. If you did a 45 helix with it I would suspect you'd need to lighten the weights a bit to keep the secondary from shifting out to fast.

I had to use the 40/50 helix shifted out much better
