Windshield issue, doesn't look correct

Hi Outlanders!

I picked up my 2021 XU+ yesterday, its a blast.

We have the high BRP windshield. Now the funny thing is doesn't close the gap between the cockpit and the windshield.

The gap is huge, over 20cm, so all the wind and snow comes through. The mounting parts of the windshield touch the cockpit when steering, so we cant mount it and lower.

Has anyone ever come across this issue?

We did close the gap with a piece of fabric, works fine but looks ****. Also all the pics in the net with the windshield mounted look much better then mine.

Thanks and happy riding, Patrick

Congratulations on the ride - looking very good. (y)

I’d read a number of negative reports regarding the Can Am Windshield Kit, mainly related to problems with getting a secure fixing on the handlebars. For that reason, and following advice from local riders, I went for the Deluxe Fairing with the High Windshield.

If you compare the pictures on the Can Am website you’ll see that the base of the Fairing sits way lower, has a totally different profile, and will close that gap you’re having issues with. Another advantage is that it’s truly QD and can be removed from the handlebar adapters in 10 seconds flat.

A tip if you decide to go for the Deluxe Fairing: provided you are no more that 2m tall you’ll probably find that the ‘high’ windshield is the best option. As I’ve experienced over the years of riding touring motorcycles, the best screens are those that come just below your eye level but still throw most of the wind/rain/whatever over your head. The ‘high’ screen is perfect in that respect.

Ride safe.

If you take a look at this thread, it shows that he was able to mount the windshield kit properly and low enough. He must've fine tuned and tweaked the mounting arms to get the perfect angle. Let us know if that helps.

Thanks, we found out that the Pro models, MX+ here in Europa, have a different handlebar and also the handlebar mount is not the same.

This will be my issue.

I was able to mount it a bit lower, not as low as all the pics i see, but low enough for us.

Thanks, Patrick

Good to know. Thanks for chiming in. Can you please tell us more about how easy it is to remove and install back the windshield part? Is there a quick installation/removal mechanism to detach the windshield from the handlebar brackets?

Yes, super easy. Once the hardware is installed all you have to do is unscrew two star screws to remove the windshield.

The mounting hardware stays on the handlebar.

Perfect for the warm months.

but maybe not as adjustable a mounting as the one on the Deluxe Fairing windshield?
Thank you both for chiming in. The reason I am asking is that I'm looking into buying a high or extra high windshield and I really don't like the bulkiness of the deluxe fairing. I prefer the Windshield Kit shown here by Swissoutlander. Any more feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.

This is how mine looks now, could be better but satisfies me.

Very nice machine and yeah I see what you mean. It's good enough I guess. One more question, are you able to tilt the windshield towards you when you're sitting on the seat? I am asking to see if the windshield can be tipped out of the way to gain access to the cluster pod and pop it off. Thanks.

Thanks really for all the valuable information. I currently have a low windshield (the Renegade one) on my ATV and I am looking into buying the high or extra high windshield for the winter months. Since you have the high and you ride in the winter, would you recommend the extra high or are you fully satisfied with the high? I am 186 cm tall.

I am the same hight, yes, i would get the same one again.

It's still a "cheep" solution, not close to the comfort of a skidoo windshield.

But for me the best easy solution for easy dismantling.

Main issue i see is you can't combine it with handguards.

I laid out the Extra High Windshield Kit (715003023) and the High Windshield Kit (715006382) as shown in the 2021 accessories catalog on top of one of the pictures you posted earlier.
Do you agree that yours appears to be the Extra High and not the High? Can you please confirm the part number of the item you purchased? Or maybe you can please measure the height of the windshield? Thanks.
