Has anyone installed a wiper delay module or timer to create an Intermittent wiper function on their sxs.
If so what device did you use?
I’ve been thinking about incorporating this item.

I did a deep dive on the various wiper delay options. There are multiple available options as have already been mentioned above.

Your results and opinions may vary, but here are mine observations and opinions, organized in one place for anyone considering adding the delay feature. Note I have not put my hands on any of these, and have made my observations from available advertised information and conversations with some of the vendors. Feel free to chime in if any of my information is incorrect.

Maxtronic control board - $28 USD. Complete DIY and least expensive option. Will require you to splice and wire yourself. Also would be beneficial to make some sort of enclosure box to protect the module.

HRU Designs - $250 USD. Complete plug and play. Does not require a second switch, instead adds a potentiometer knob. (it is clear that this kit uses the Maxtronic module above, in fact you can buy a harness from them for $85 if you choose to wire the maxtronic module yourself). Benefit If you prefer the original single wiper switch.

Berks Attachments - $150 USD ($150 on amazon, $220 on their own website) Complete plug and play. Does not require a second switch, instead adds a potentiometer knob. Effectively the exact same design as the HRU kit

KP offroad customs - $199 USD. Nice true plug and play kit. Requires adding a second switch, reasonable price point. Offers one delay duration (3 Sec on, 9 sec off) and constant-on. Benefit If you prefer the two switches.

Eurotech Kit - $399 CAD ($283 USD). Nice kit that offers 3 different intermittent delay options (3, 6, 9 second delay), and constant-on. In my opinion pricey for what you are getting. Information on the website is limited, not sure if it is truly plug and play. Requires adding a second switch and a knob. Benefit If you prefer the two switches and a knob.

Previously I had said I would be ordering the HRU kit, but thanks to xtcamper he brought to attention the Berks kit on amazon for $100 less.

I went with the Berks attachment kit for the following reasons:
  • Full plug and play and easily removed if needed.
  • Requires adding just a small hole for addition of the potentiometer knob
  • I prefer the factory single switch operation: Off (down), wiper constant on (middle) and washer (top - momentary). In my opinion it seemed weird and lunky to move the wash function to a second dedicated switch (as is the case with Eurotech and KP).
  • The Berks / HRU kits gives you a wide range of delay options (3 - 30 seconds) by turning the potentiometer. Delay operation occurs when the factory contura switch is in the "off" (down) position. You can of course still shut off the wiper by turning the potentiometer all the way in one direction. Middle contura switch position overrides into constant on, and wash respectively.

PSA: I am not at all affiliated with any of the above products, nor am I a dealer.

I would have liked to have seen the HRU kit closer to the $200 price point.... but oh well they got me.

Saw one on Amazon for 150 looks to be plug & play

For Canadians. Not sure its been mentioned. The HRU kit is made by fellow in USA. Not sure if he ships to Canada. There is a lad in Newfoundland Canada that makes the exact same thing as that unit. I have bought it from him and installed it. Its less price for Canadians. Works fine. His name on facebook is Tyson Coombs. I have no affiliation with him ... just passing on the info as I bought one. I think it was $225 Canadian. something like that.

I’m excited to be a part of the group and appreciate the opportunity to share. I noticed there have been some previous comments about my product, and I just wanted to say thank you for the interest and feedback. There’s an informational install video available on YouTube if anyone needs a walkthrough, and the kit is also available for purchase directly through my website at a slightly lower price than on Amazon. I’m here if anyone has any questions or needs any help — happy to assist however I can. Thanks again!

Just installed the Berks kit. Well put together kit that installed in less than 15 min. The most time consuming part was just configuring the position of the module so that it fit in properly that it didn’t push the factory switch out of alignment. Not a big deal by any means, just a couple of test fit and adjusts before mounting the cover back up. Everything works as designed.

So far it works as described. Keep in mind that the factory wiper motor is not a beast. When you test it make sure the windshield is wet. If the windshield is completely dry the wiper motor may hang up due to the dry windshield friction.

The motor cover comes off with (3) Torx screws that are accessed by flipping the windshield up to the open position.

Is the loss of power due to the delay module because ours does not do that on a dry windshield I thought I would test that I mean normally it's wet when it gets turned on but I thought I would try today on a dry windshield and it would run as as I let it so is it possible that some power is reduced because of the delay module just wondering . Thanks

I was in the same boat as Montana Mountain Family - a different kit on hand, but xtcamper peaked interest for the adjustable delay kit.

Ordered the Berks kit from Amazon. Came in Thursday, installed this weekend.

Easy plug and play, +/- 15 minutes start to finish. Functions as described. Waiting on 'Mother Nature's' assistance to put it to the real test.

I've seen this carry over on Facebook forums and mind you I have no skin in this game so keep that in mind as I type this out.. However, that Berks kit people have mentioned above is basically a copy cat of the HRU one.. Shady stuff if you ask me.. I believe he even bought the HRU kit and copied his work.. Ryan the owner of HRU is selling his original kit for $125 right now. I believe it was $250 at one point..

IMO This seems a little dramatic (not saying you are dramatic, I'm referring to the Facebook people alleging this). The instructions on how to wire the maxtronic board come with the board. MXA041 12VDC Windshield Wiper Timer Car Motor 3 - 30 seconds
There's no rocket science here or anything patentable.

It's really not hard to remove the potentiometer, add a knob, put the board in a box and add a couple of duestch connectors to make it a plug and play kit. Frankly I considered doing it myself, but as Ive gotten older I value my time such that I'm willing to pay $150 for something that is ~$90 in parts and saves me 2-3 hours of my time.

I respect the HRU kit, however $250 was a little salty. I also noticed he just recently reduced his pricing to $125 (in the past two weeks). I think the market has spoken to him.

Installed the KP delay wiper mod today and moved the wiper and washer switch to to top panel and it works good I had already bought it and just decided to try it out for awhile and if I don't like how it works I will change it out now I will say it runs just like it did before I installed it on a dry windshield the delay works good it swipes twice then delays we don't experience alot of rain here occasionally so I will keep you posted on how it works in real time use not in my garage

I am sure it's a good kit and cheaper than the one I purchased and looks easy to install .the reason I moved everything to the top was I did not want to cut a switch hole when there was two blanks in the top that way if I don't use it I don't have an open hole I used one of the blanks and put it where the wiper switch was and may use that spot for the lights that I have for it .
