Yet Another Warranty Question

So I have a 2012 Commander XT 1000 which is bone stock. I just put in a 2" spacer lift kit from TurnKey Utv. On my third ride out after the install I came to a grassy sorta of bump about 2 feet high. Gave the old girl a little shot and SNAP! Something definitely piled up in the rear diff. The weird thing is that I didn't catch any air whatsoever and I didn't even spin the tires and hook up or anything. Anyways I brought it to the dealer and they left me an uneasy message today saying that " we are pulling your rear diff apart right now and all the guidelines have to be met for them to warranty it. If they find the diff isn't warrantyable (is that a word?) then they will charge me the cost for disassembly and troubleshooting". That's almost exactly what the message said. My question is if there is any way in hell a 2" puck style lift should void my rear diff warranty? The axels and cv's all seem good. I couldn't find any play in and out of the cv's from the rear diff so everything there seems to be intact. It seems like its right inside the rear diff and it clicks, bangs and grinds pretty hard when I limped it a couple hundred yards to my buddies place, especially when trying to make a turn (because the diff isn't "slipping" anymore). Just want to know if I have a case here or does my dealer and Can-Am have me by the you know what.

So just got a call from my dealer....NOT GOOD. They said no warranty because the rear diff was "shock loaded" and stripped out some gears, most likely from jumping the unit. My Commander has never been an inch off the ground once. What the hell is going? The dealer is saying that BRP had determined this. I called BRP and they have no files on record of this. They gave me a case number to give to the dealer and that's where I am at right now. Is there anything I can do to get out of this mess? Can I start talking about small claims court or anything? Please help me out here guys!

You can do whatever you want, but be aware that BRP has more money than you do, so they won't budge on it and they laugh at the thought of you taking them to court!

It sucks balls, but its them using their power against us.

You didn't seem to read the post close enough.

BRP was NEVER contacted. I would get your machine right away and take it somewhere else and don't ever go back to that dealer.
Give your claim number to the new dealer. Hopefully you don't live 500 miles from another dealer.

If another daler won't cover it, a new diff is $875 and you can self-install it. That dealer will charge you more than that to rebuild it. For example, just the 36 tooth gear is $325, the 10 tooth gear is $170, several hours of labor @ $100/hr., overpriced diff fluid, shop fees, bearings, seals, etc..

My bike is 4 moths old and has 400 miles...and is falling apart. BRP quality control is laughable, as is customer service, warranty, and parts availability. Can-Am Groupies make excuses because they spent more on their bikes than anyone else and nobody likes to look like a chump. BRP blames owners for issues that should be covered under recalls. Mine is for sale, worst mistake I've ever made and I've been married twice!

Can-Am is no better than any other brand. Do Can-Am owners remember the cracked frames???????
Of course they don't, see a solar flare caused an issue during manufacturing and the owners lack of proper maintenance lead to the (insert problem here) and is not covered by BRP ...
The people that pay the most for their machines always think they have the best!!!!!!!!!! :smilietwocents:

Sad thing is I have another $400 of add ons I already ordered on the way, and I just want this thing out of my life now. Maybe the ATVs are better...PS there is a 2013 Commander XT 1000 in my front yard, keys in the ignition and i'm headed out of town, sooo

same boat here, stripped ring gear and winch locked up at 170 miles. while in for warranty work they took it apart and changed brake pads and belt without asking me at all. Charged me for skid plate removal and washing without contacting me. i made them put old brake pads back on the machine but couldn't do anything about the belt.

not impressed with build quality or customer servie so far.

I really wanted to like it. I wouldn't have $20K tied up in it within 4 months if I hadn't. She is for sale now on multiple boards. Maybe I'm just being a total man-gina about everything and if so, someone is going to get a wonderful deal $$.

Also included are all stock parts, tires, extra filters, and an EMP front bumper I haven't even installed yet. So come and get 'er!

So the "final verdict" is in and between the dealer and BRP they have decided there will be NO warranty. 3 teeth missing on the crown and on the pinion. I just don't know how that could have happened? They say the only way was to be spinning and have caught traction (shockload) but I was barely spinning my tires when it happened so I'm sticking to a defect like cracked teeth or something because I know I didn't do anything I shouldn't have. It just sucks when you have coverage and something like this happens. I was going to put PB Rockers on it but if the diffs are that weak then no way will I run an aggressive tire. Probably the last Can-Am I'll ever own, as well as most of my buddies. Oh well....thanks for your input guys!

Is this the same stealer that told you no in your first post?

These diffs are made from recycled beer cans and assembled by idiots who have no idea what a torque spec is. You can grab the yoke on my rear diff and jangle it around about 1/2 inch in all directions...and this is "normal" according to BRP who will not even look at it, they just immediately tell me "water must have gotten w in it" over the phone. i have been easy on this thing, changed fluids every 2 rides and this has been an issue since DAY 1. I will tell every one I meet on the trail, including CanAM Fanboys exactly what I think of this $20k POS.
