I know by knowledge after all the years i have been on here that this question will pop up once in a year or so.
Either because one is buying a used atv and is skeptic about the seller.
Or all stickers are washed off years ago, owners manual lost and perhaps some of the owners memory lost as well and searching for parts.

So a VIN number is an identifier and the most helpful tool for learning any vehicle's past. A search of these details reveals specific information and many important facts about the history of the vehicle . The buyers can make better choices with this information in hand. The code informs us about everything regarding (for example) a car's origin and its features. A few people only look at how nice a Can-Am appears on the outside. The detail check in VIN saves you, however, from hidden problems. A simple step keeps you away from costly mistakes, either while selling or buying. Definitely, you'll know what you pay for and won't get surprised later i hope.

For me as example where i live i can go to a website enter the VIN and find out if it has been repaired due to crash or not.
