I have recently developed a binding noise/vibration in the front end of my machine. First noticed only when turning near full lock and slow moving, now noticing a vibration/noise at random times when running in the 15-20 mph range. Any ideas?

Is it just a bone stock Defender, or do you have some other stuff going on? Could be a few things. If its a noticeable popping sound, it could be a CV on your axle. It usually means its about to go.

Thanks SuperATV - Fully stock suspension, tires/wheels, drive train, etc. Never experienced any popping sounds, just what I can best describe as a binding/grinding in front end with a slight vibration at higher speeds. I would be interested to know what you think could possibly cause this issue.

When you are turning at slow speeds it is the visco lok trying to engage. Jack up the front one and hold one tire and spin the other you will feel and hear the noise. My 2018 ia at the shop for this very issue. Didn't have the 15-20 mph vibration though.

They put a whole new front diff in it. It was all under warranty so not really sure what was wrong with old unit.

I am sure it is the visco. Jack up one tire and hold the other and you will hear and feel the noise. I don't think it will hurt anything but it is annoying. A torq locker/visco delete is probably the answer if not under warranty.

10-4. I'm going to try that tomorrow. There is some slight clicking but the grinding was happening long before. I may be experiencing both.

Perhaps it's due to the virus, but I can't get SuperATV to respond to my axle question. Otherwise, I would have already gone with Rhino 2.0s. Thinking about trying Titans or something else.

If the visco isn't hurting anything, I'll hold off on upgrading. Thanks!!
