Bad Stator?

Not getting any spark, so I hooked up a volt meter to 2 of the 3 yellow wires coming from the stator and am pulling down a whole 3 vAC. Then connected the volt meter to the red and black wires off the VR and am getting a whole 3 vDC.

Does that sound like a bad stator? Or is there something else that can be causing this?

Thanks and really hope someone can help.

In our club, we have had over 6 can-ams have their stator go bad. So a stator going bad is likely.

My stator died just a little bit ago. I watched the volts drop on my gauge. I was lucky to be with some friends . Because we where on a long trip .. and i had jumper cables . So we kept charging the battery to get home .

my bike has 419hrs on it
6500kms or 4000 miles ish

had to cut off the old plug (BRP told me to do this) and solder the new one on

the new one was one foot longer

Check the connections in the system, especially the 3 yellow wires. Make sure one isn't "backing out" when your putting it together. And yes, check any and all connections/grounds that could possibly have anything to do with it.

So this is the 2nd stator replacement for this quad :0headscratch:, (I think the 650/800 were the same back then)?

I have a 2004 Outlander max. Bought new in 04 and has ran great until last year. SO far I have installed a new voltage regulator with new harness and I am on the third battery. I now need to replace stator. (I have >1v coming from the yellow wires at the VR.) Anyone know of a good place to shop? My dealer sold out and moved and the new guys (kawasaki dealer) are way expensive. Also how hard are they to replace? From nostuck500xt's pictures it looks pretty simple.
