Ok please justify your answer ,, not just because brp rocks ..... which one will you get if you could aford both ? and WHY ?
Good info Helix.I own a new XT1000 and just sold a RZR "S"
They ARE two different vehicles in my opinion. The RZR S is a sport vehicle and is not a utility at all...so there is a decision you have to make. ...whether you want utility or not...and everyone's answer cannot be the same obviously because of the nature of the different things people do with them. It is not always that "THIS one is BETTER"
I ride them all,but the two mentioned here are both top of the list and great vehicles, they are just different and should not be DIRECTLY compared so often like we often see here, because they should almost be in different leagues.
Of the available utility machines, the Can Am 1000 is setting a new bar in my opinion,..because of the good finish, seating, horsepower, etc is sort of gets you in the fun zone more than some of the others and for my own personal use it is a good balance.
The RZR"S" version is a flat out fun side x side and out handles ANY other hands down...yes,it does. On My MX track,I have a set of whoops that are 2 ft high,15 ft apart and there are 10 of them in a row.
The RZR S will skip right across them in a straight line if you learn to stay HARD on the gas all the way through....there is no clunking and loud smashing (the S's long travel is awesome) ...it will keep its nose level on jumps, the engine is behind you and there are no vibrations or racket.. This is what I love about the RZR S.
The REGULAR RZR is the absolute WORST at this test...it bounces sideways (and sometimes rolls) I tried and tried to get the rythm....and I would never again attempt anything of the likes on a regular rzr.
However,...the RZR models are all but useless for anything like hauling loads,..they are too short in my opinion for 4 seat cages people put on them,..they lack a lot of the things some people want to be able to do.
The Can Am 1000 tracks decent thru this test, better than a regular RZR for sure, not as good as the rzr S ,..but probably better or on par with a Teryx. (most all of the UTILITY version actually suck at the level flight, bottoming, nosediving)
The second Commander pic on this page is "entering that section"
Dalton Industries, Ltd. - ATV Products CANAM/BRP
The Can Am is,however the best mix for ME with its mix of HP and the ability to use it for a lot of different things.I love the seats,I like the handling , I love the power( I had to spend quite a lot of money on cams, pistons, etc to get a Teryx to where this one is stock)
I mean ideal situation for many might be to own:
- A sand rail
- a Dump truck
- a woods jeep
-a desert car
- a garden tractor
but ..you know..sometimes you get ONE vehicle and compremise right?
It may not be for everybody because it is not fair to always group us all into one bubble, but For Me,...Can Am hit a home run with the all around versatility and the lure of FACTORY HP. without mods.
My wife and I own a 2005 bombardier traxtor max. We live in SW utah near the good trails like the piute etc. We have never rode another machine. I am 70 years old and 3 spins on the scale! The wife is big too. We have rode with some rzr`s and I was very impressed with them. We havent tried both sitting together in a rzr, and I suppose it would be jammed! We did sit together in a dealers commander and it was good, but wish the seats would go back a little farther. I am about 6 ft 1" and wife is 5 ft 11"s. Over 600 lbs between us with cloths etc.
To complicate matters I definetly like the idea that the rzr can get through the 50" trail gates, the comander cant! I like the bigger commander, the more power, the rzr everyone says is better handeling.
It`s a delemma! Another thing is, you add up the options that I want and it makes your eyes water!
I think whats going to happen here is I am gonna dance with the one I brung, AND it`s paid for! The traxter is huge, I hardly feel theresa behind me, It will go through the bridges, and you cant stop that one lunger!
The things wrong with it is, it is very heavy steering and gives your arms and shoulders a workout, and it is hard to shift. This machine has been a pain every since new, sticky shifting. Sometimes what works best is to shut it off, rock and shake it into gear and restart the engine. Also the machine is harder to turn around on a narrow trail than the shorter machines of other people that we ride with.
I would like imput from some of you more experianced guys, whatcha think? I have about 2,700 miles on mine. Right now its at my dealer for a new belt, the speedo and odometer are screwed up and the mechanic is trying to fix or reset it. The seat cover is ripped and thats about it. I recently put big horns on the front and clones on back.
Do I dance with the one I brung untill she croaks? Or start looking for a commander or rxrs?
