Can someone please explain to me what the clean and dirty tubes are hanging down behind the plastic on the left front side? I dont get what their for.. I tipped over coming off a snowbank and noticed the dirty one had some stuff in it, i drained it and all seems well. No damage to machine, whewwww! Got a sore ankle outta the deal. Ha

Overflow for coolant and the like. Don't mess with them. Yea, when a bike is tipped you will see fluid coming out of some of them, otherwise is it rare for them to actually have fluid dripping out of them, BUT if they do it doesn't mean anything is wrong either, thats what they are there for so don't get too worried unless they are fluidy* all the time and your fluids become low. Most people have had those drip/leak fluid at some point or other, lol, good luck

Your airbox has 2 chambers, a clean side which is the air that is actually entering the engine. And a dirty side which is the air before it is filtered. The air enters the dirty chamber from the your snorkle or air inlet tube, once into this chamber it has to pass thru the air filter to get to the clean side chamber to be used by the engine. If you where to look at the tubes and see water in the dirty tube but not the clean tube you have gotten water into the dirty chamber but not the clean chamber.
If you have water in the clean and dirty tubes the water has made it past the filter and then into the engine

Makes sense now. Thats a way better description than the manual which basically just says they exist. Thanks!

Yeah its a Gen 2 bike and I bought the XT Rear bumper, and installed myself. The 2 brackets to mount it go to some bolts already on the bike, but they are a pain to get out and reinstall. They have lock nuts that you cant even see so getting a wrench on them is tough and then trying to hold the nut in place along with the bracket and restart the bolt...... do-able but patience is required.

Best thing to do is take the air filter out and put a mason jar lid over the intake hole in the air box and start it up and if u here air theres your hole

Wouldnt sealing them keep the water, small debris in the airbox and potentially sucked into the engine? My dirty tube has been filled with all kinds of random crap, clean one is still clean. Seems like they work well the way they are..
