Hi, All,
I've always hauled my ATVs on my trailer facing forward. Today, however, I was planning to finally install an Erickson E-Fitting wheel chock and strap kit I had purchased last year. I pulled the Outlander Max 800R onto the trailer forward and set the chocks in place at the rear wheels near the back of the trailer to see where their final placement.
It occurred to me that the chocks might be a little hard to work around since I use the trailer for hauling other things (lumber, etc.). If put the chocks in toward the front of the trailer and towed the ATV backward, they would be more out of the way for other trailer use.
Turning the machine around would reduce tongue weight, but the engine would still be in front of the axle. I would pop the windshield off (open trailer) and cover or plug the exhaust pipe.
Before I commit to the actual chock mounting, I thought I'd get your feedback on forward or backward hauling: six of one, half dozen issue? (I know some won't like the chock system, so I'm prepared to hear that as well.
Thanks!
