Hello all. New to the forum and hope I am posting this in the correct area. I think I feel like my parents when I handed them a smartphone. Anyways, I recently picked up my 850xtp and now in the market for new helmets for my wife and I. I really like the modular design but do not know if these are appropriate for “dirt”. Most “dirt” style helmets have goggles and would like to stay away from these unless your gonna tell me its gonna fog up. Plan on using in summer and winter. Do I need two different styles for the seasons? Price not a issue, much more concerned about getting it right the first time. Thoughts?

If you like the modular design you should check out the Dual Sport motorcycle helmets, depending on style its nice to have an open face when your going slow and once you pick up speed or the weather is bad you can put down a shield and adjust the vents depending on temperature. You mentioned price isn't a big concern, if thats the case then you will want to try to get something light as well weight wise. Carbon can save you some ounces. Pick a few you like and then compare specs.

My wife and I use the Bell MX-9 Adventure helmets for both street and ATV. The flip down shield does a pretty good job of keeping the dust out on the ATV and the sun visor is not so large as to catch the wind on the street. Also, the sun visor is removable, but we have not felt the need to remove them.

After many years of riding sled and bike I like full face with goggles the best in every type of riding...The vents are great for summer and NO fog in fall and winter, good fit and light is always the biggest concern, plus you can have multiple lenses for different light conditions and no glare or scratches from a closing shield...But each to his own...
