Outlander 570 1 year review

Bought my Outty almost a year ago to the day, figured I'de give some likes and dislikes about my machine. I have the base 570, put bighorns and Podiums on have 1400 miles on it.

Pros:
570 is a overachiever for sure, I run with my buddies outlander 650s, grizzlys, KQ750 and Brute Force. The 650 will slowly pull away and top end me but its not much difference. Grizzly 700, we are about the same till top end and I have a little more. KQ I'm just faster all around. Brute crushes me off the line but I can slowly creep back on him. 570 is a great motor. I just put a cvtech on it and am still tuning it, but wow the off the line is crazy, I can wheelie at will just like a brute now.

Comfort- I really like the overall ride, I just have the base model so no power steering, so I can imagine that makes it even better.

Quality- Just looks good and everything fits together nicely, everything is easy to get at.

Cons:
Clutch noise, everyone that has a can am knows, I put gates on and helped a lot, but still annoying sometimes.

Suck stock suspension- Again everyone knows how soft they come, I put podiums on and helped a lot

Diff Drains- WTH was can am thinking using these dinky little alan screw:)

Thats pretty much it, Overall very happy with my choice, I took a chance getting the Can am, almost bought a Kodiak 700. I've been riding Ski Doo forever and will never buy another brand so I figured I'd give BRP a try with the atvs. So hopefully its reliable for years to come! Four guys in our group all switched over to Can am from Japanese brands in the last year, and with about 7000 combined miles wer'e all loving them

Its a nice machine for sure.
I wanted more power so for me it was a 800 minimum, but the 570 sure is a nice quad.

Thanks for a long term review, we get very few of them, appreciate that. I'm glad you like your purchase.

My date for a new primary is set for the 30th. I liked my old CV Tech but man..... I'm really leaning towards the QSC Rev X just to get rid of the noise. Nice review and glad you're happy with the machine. I like hearing how these machines compare to other brands and you included a pretty good spread of comparison's here.

Berick,
Yeah I've heard qsc is awesome. I got a great deal on cvtech, I still have to get a different spring in as my shift out is a little low. But oh man in low I can stand it straight up whenever I want. I will say disappointed in the noise as it's no quieter than stock.

Thanks for the review and comparison to the competition. My father just picked up a 570, and I found a deal I couldn't pass up on the MAX DPS version. I was a little worried that it would be somewhat lacking in the power department but it sounds like you keep up quite well with the ones you listed. Next summer I should be able to find out how it hangs with a rincon 650, and a sportsman 700.

Did you do the clutch install yourself? I would be interested to see a long term review on that.

You'll walk all over a Honda Rincon. My buddy has one and it's lame. Lol. About the only thing that machine has going for it is it's name and the reliability. No ground clearance and not much in the "fun" department.

CV Tech clutches are great primaries, especially for the money. I ran one for years in my Gen 1 800 but they do make some funny noises. Not bad if you're not snorkelled but if you're snorkelled and have them pointed back at your head..... you hear everything and it gets rather annoying. They are an extremely low maintenance clutch too which is another bonus for the CV Tech. They were originally designed for scooters or mopeds.

Agreed.... from the Honda line, would go with a Rubicon over a Rincon any day of the week.

The rincon has treated us well for 15 years and over 9k miles, so no complaints there! It is nice to hear that the 570 will have some more kick to it though. When I was researching I had to make sure that whatever I got would have the same power/weight ratio or better. I think the 450 was very close there.

I love my Can-am but imagine the look on my face when a buddy with a little 420 rancher showed us his mileage the other day....31000kms...yes 31000,so pretty hard to knock those Honda's I guess...One tie-rod and one wheel bearing is all he has changed, pretty dam good...I have 3800kms on mine without anything and feel blessed...lol

I agree..... mileage/reliability-wise, you can't beat a Honda. I know of 2 guys here as well with well over 30,000kms on their Honda's too and they're still going strong. They are a helluva work horse! They just aren't anywhere near as much fun as my Canam.

I like my 570 Max XT, but have run into a few quirky things that I hadn't expected.

In general CAN-AM's seem a bit like helicopters or airplanes for the Ride:Maintenance Ratio

Excellent analogy actually! Lol

I have a 570XT and my biggest complaint is that if the rad is the littlest bit dirty it overheats. I spend more time ensuring the rad is squeaky clean than I do anything else. Other than that I really like the machine, its nimble and light enough to throw around and fast enough for the trails I ride.

Lol your not kidding.

I looked at a mud puddle wrong and my rad was clogged instantly

I’ll be doing a rad relocate before this spring

Other then that, the heat coming off the left side was so bad but I fixed that with a cvt exhaust snorkel

Pretty sweet machine otherwise

How did you do yours? With XMR parts? I want to do mine too.... soon. I want to just just the CVT exhaust. CVT inlet and air inlet are fine as is, for me.

I made my own using a silicone 45 elbow 2.75” to 2” in place of the stock elbow that connects to the heat shield. (I filled that opening with the xmr filler plate). I then connected a 1.5” spa flex hose and ran it up in front of the motor to the pod opposite of the cvt intake.

Works great and doesn’t leak. No more heat blowing out the side just wish I did it sooner

I agree, I would consider Yamaha and Honda to be pretty equal.

Honda set the standard back in the day, but I would say Yamaha is more relevant today, while the Honda line is still good, I see no real real attempt to stay current.
What they have does its job but it isn't what I think about when I think adventure seeker.

If it wasn't for the 2-up model my outlander would have been some version of a Grizzly 700.

Rad and suspension dive are my biggest disappointments experienced with my Outlander 570 Max XT.

I new about the heat and the maintenance, but did not now about the overheating.

Perhaps a fan over ride switch could help you? I put one on mine and the temp drops 20 - 25 degrees F (I have a real temp gauge installed) when I flip that switch. Simply wire a + wire with a toggle switch to the + on the fan. The computer turning on the fan will still function normally, in case you forget to flip the switch.

Wisconsin and Michigan actually has a really nice mix of everything. Plenty of mud everywhere if you want it. Rocks if you want and alot of fast whooping trails. My buddy bought a 650 Max in June and already had 2500 miles on

Holy crap no kidding! I bought mine June of 2011 and don't even have 3k miles on it yet!!! I feel like I've driven it a lot too!! I wish I drove it a looooooooooooooooot more though. I have yet to find fast trails around my area, and I've visited almost every trail system in MN in my lifetime. fast trails for me = gravel roads.

man...I would give anything to put that kind of mileage on....stupid life getting in the way :crying

Yeah its a ton of miles, I got 1300 on in my first year which I'm happy with. My kid got his ATV safety this year so that is awesome, now we can ride together whenever we got time! Nothing better than seeing kid go through some mud or the first time:)
