After calling all of my normal dealer contacts and being told they knew less than the public did about them and finding my closest dealer was likely not even going to carry them, I put a deposit down this past week on the 1000X. The first one coming to this particular dealer is a Yellow 1000XT and as much as I like the included winch and 14 inch wheels, the suspension upgrades (shocks and sway bay) are too tempting to pass up so the 1000X it is. I will have to compare it to the RZR when I get it. One thing I do find humorous is the Rhino guys ( I owned one until the Rzr came out and loved it) slammed the RZR as not practical ( no real utility, ground clearance,etc- anyone remember the funny brokeback side by side ad?), and now the RZR guys are slamming the Commander as too much of a utility and not enough sport, too big, etc. Somehow, I have a feeling many of these Commander-hating RZR owners (many of whom are former RZR-hating Rhino owners) will eventually end up on here praising their new Commanders. I have owned both and can say both have had pros and cons, but I still admire both of them for being innovative and huge in advancing the sport. I am not sure if the Commander will be the same in terms of this since it's more of an evolution of current products on the market, whereas the Rhino pretty much created the segment and the RZR redefined what it could be for non-utility use. Time will tell, but I see a lot of thought went into making the Commander not just another copycat (no offense to Teryx, Prowler and Big Red owners) of existing products, and I see the same spirit of innovation that the Traxter, original Outlander and Renegade brought to the market.

Full MSRP (you gotta figure this to be more common than not on the first 1000 models, and especially the X version), but accessories at 5% over cost was negotiated into the deal. I am sure there will be some people claiming to get $1000 or more off from the get go, but I think it reality, it will either not be on the 1000X model or it will be made up with hidden charges (freight/assembly/processing fees) so that in the end you pay MSRP (or more).

msrp is $14,699 USD or $17,249 CAD for the X model. not sure where you come up with $20k. the toy market is down so much that dealers will be able to charge msrp, but good luck charging more than that in today's economy.

the msrp of the commander should give a pretty good indication of the current market state. same with the other upgraded models for the 2011 year. sales are down drastically, so while BRP had raised the prices quite a bit in previous years, now that the economy has gotten even worse, they have to adjust their pricing to compensate. i fully expected the nicest commander to have an msrp around $16-17k. there are dealerships practically giving away bikes these days. a guy on another forum picked up a left over '09 renegade 800 brand new for $6500 OTD!

It's too bad you can't speak out of your ass- that could be a real marketable talent! LOL

I think you failed to read my last full post. If you are talking used ATV/Used Rhino, that is an apples to oranges comparison. See my new Kia vs. 25 year old Porsche analogy. Your line of reasoning is completely off base since you are talking about used parts, not considering the labor, no warranty, etc. etc. I can buy a new Commander 800 for less than $12000 sitting in my driveway, so that is quite a bit less than 20000. The fact that there is someone on eBay seeing if he can rape someone just shows you that in a capitalistic soceity you will find some people looking to take advatnage of a high demand/low supply item. The thread OSOKILL mentioned referred to Ridenow Powersports, a notorious stealer that tries to take customers for every penny that they can squeeze out. You will have dealers like that, but there are others that are very happy to just get MSRP (11699 to 14899) for the unit. Do you need my to fax you a copy of my buyers order to see that you can buy one for straight MSRP? Again, a used Rhino and used donor (meaning likely a wrecked or used up) does not equal a brand new, fully warranted, and ready to ride on day one Commander.

BAD INFORMATION HUH? CHECK THE LINK GUYS

CAN-AM COMMANDER 1000X UTV SxS: eBay Motors (item 260618438648 end time Jun-18-10 13:10:13 PDT)

used rhino $6,000
used donor quad$5,000
a few grand for the bbk
sell rhino motor for $2000
sell quad parts for more MOney

I don't talk out my ass, I speak from experience.
good luck getting a commander out the dorr for under 20k

YES, BAD INFORMATION! just because a few dealers are charging more doesn't mean you can't get one for msrp. the issue with the accessories is because the dealers have to buy $10k worth of BRP accessories to be able to carry the commanders. the bottom line is you CAN buy one for msrp without accessories. you're not speaking from experience because you have not bought one :thumbsmilie:
The only way your getting one for under 15k is if you or your family member is the owner of the stealership or your blowing the owner of the stealership.

Care to back up that claim with some cash?
I could never prove that you didn't give the dealer a hummer for a good price, so I'll pass, lol.

do you normally go out of your way to seem so ignorant? i'm just wondering, cause it seems like you enjoy perpetuation false information and not accepting facts.

I assume you are replying to GOT WAKE. I did not call you ignorant or any other big words.

also aboiut the one on ebay WHY NOT mark it up and stick it ou tthere like that if tells a lot of people he will have em and there is always some brainic out there with "more dollars than sense" and if some smuck just has to have one so bad that they fork out the cash oh well otherwise reserve isnt met and he advertised it for a while rather cheaply and sells it in his dealership

current bid is already over 20k
I have 2 rules when buying a vehicle
never buy a first year vehicle
always buy odd year vehicles

so I couldn't get one until 2013 anyways and since the world is ending in 2012, I'll just keep driving my rotaxrhino and still have 24k:aniwheeler6:

#22 ·
LOL, I have heard of the first rule, but never the second. At least when the world ends in 2012 as you said I will have the memories of a sweet couple of years enjoying my Commander. The end of the world should arrive about the time you get your bastardized Rhino running properly!:yahoo::th_smiliewoo:

My apologies if I misunderstood the meaning of your posts. It does come across (to me) that way, so I am sorry if I am misreading your intentions. Still the fact remains people will be rolling out the door in these units for $12000-15000 (depending on trim level) so $20000-24000 is somewhat insulting to my sensibilities- Look a Big Word!!!

also in reply to your theory on used parts, if you used a 650 or 800 core and built it with a bbk, isn't in essence, a new motor?
When I did my motor swap, I had to buy a new quad for the motor and I was givin a 3 year warranty on the motor.
and a mrrpm 921 with the stm clutch will whoop on a stock 1000.

#42 ·
No, in my opinion, it's not a new motor. Cases, crank, rods, cams, etc. are still used are they not? I do not think they are even checked and rebuilt as part of the BBK. Even if all of those items were remanunfactured, it would still not be a new engine. That does not even get into the used Rhino, which could be a worn out POS (hence the need to upgrade the motor!) and bearings, spindles, diffs, steering, electrical and other systems could all need repair or replacement immediately or in the near future. What you are suggesting is a used Rhino with a partially rebuilt motor (albeit a much better than Yamaha 660 stock motor). You also mentioned the STM clutch and if I recall correctly that's another 800-1500 bucks depending on the specific one you mention (without the driven clutch which is another 500 and additional weights, etc. cost). Not saying your Rhino does not scream, but it's a little early to call a winner either way unless you have lined one up against yours. Also, what's to stop the 1000 owner from putting a mild engine or clutch upgrade in if he is slower than you and then putting you right back on the trailer?

In today's economy any dealer asking more then MSRP should be ran out of business. This is clearly a rich person's toy but not only the rich will buy these.. IF you purchased one in CA expect to pay 10% more to cover taxes and registration. That pushes a $14,000 purchase to $15,400!

Does anyone know if banks are asking for insurance when financing over $10,000?

I would guess this first batch that comes in most if not all dealers will be selling for MSRP. My dealer is getting 4 of them. I normally get things for a good amount below MSRP like $1000 or more. I checked on getting 2 of the commanders for a guy and at first it was gonna be below msrp then it was msrp last I herd the dealer had to buy like $5000 worth of accessories in order to be able to get 4 from launch so now it is MSRP = $1200 in accessories. So yes the dealers are getting the run around as well right now because there is such a high demand on them.

High demand or limited supply? OK, so BRP is helping out some dealers limiting supply with the first run and there will be people buying them. I wonder if they are trying to guage future production based on early demand??

When Nissan came out with the latest Z car(400 I think?) they limited supply and dealers were marking them up $5,000 over MSRP.

Lets face it these companies aren't making their living off of selling 400 cc quads, just like the automakers the bigger and badder you make it the more money you can charge for it.

ok max you annoyed everyone involved in this thread already and now yer starting to annoy me (not wise) who buys what, when and for how much is up to the individual doing the buying I am POSITIVE that there are many that have thought you have made unwise purchases too and that too was your decision to make ... if this thread cant stick to facts and discussing those facts then I am gonna close it... nuff said

if you stupid necks would learn reading comprehension, go reread the whole thread and maybe you'll see how stupid you are.
I really don't care what you think of me or my purchases, you make me the bad guy cause I smacked you in the face with the truth and you know it and that pisses you off. Plus I make in one day what you make in a year, so I could buy all the overpriced commanders I wanted, if I wanted.
your a bunch of window lickers.

ALSO DON"T CARE IF YOU CLOSE THE THREAD OR EVEN BAN ME.
