Steering column lube

Is there’s Zerk fitting anywhere on the steering column on a 2021 570? I just lubed on the suspension zerks, but today when I riding my steering column was squeaking like crazy.
Unrelated, I cannot WAIT for my Elkas to arrive! The stock shocks suck SO bad!

No there is no zerk, although I've seen a thread of a rider who added a grease zerk to the column. Not a simple job but doable.
In the meantime, when the steering column on my ATV started squeaking, I removed the left front inner fender and lubed where the column meets the bushing with lubricating oil. The squeak was gone after that.

yes you can put a zerk in the steering bushing but its a real pain to get the lower bolts out and pack in. Recommendation when doin git is find a zerk with a longer shaft and put it on the left or right side. I put a 90 in the center where their is a flat spot and the darn fitting popped out of the 90 so now i have to tear it apart all over again and do it..

A lot of guys just squirt a little 75-90 or 140 down the steering shaft and that helps.

What did you end up doing to it? I just put some 75-140 on it every once in a while.

I took both upper and lower bushings out. Cleaned everything, applied that SuperLube that everyone raves about and recommends even using in the one way bearing in the clutch. If the upper bushing thats a bear to get to cause everything has to be removed..

Well noticed last week it's creaking/squeaking again. Which now kinda makes me wonder how good is this SuperLube is and if its even worthy of having it on the one way bearing.

How do you get the oil down there? Just remove the pod and pour some down the column?

Well had some 80w-90 kicking around and poured some down last night. We’ll see if it works, wasn’t sure how much do actually do. Kinda difficult as it was getting on the wiring that around the column.

My squeak would start only after riding for about 10minutes or so once the machine has time to heat up..

How did it go?

Not sure where else? I noticed this now since it has got fairly cold out..

As soon as I turn the steering at slow speeds I can hear it, it doesnt start right away but after a while of riding. It seems to be right up near the pod area from what I could tell on the trail. It was like this back early last year when I first got the bike, after riding around 20-30min the creaking would start that's what got me to pull both bushings and properly clean/grease.
The bike is always greased up after every ride

Did you grease the lower bushings when you had it apart?

Edit: I see in an earlier post you greased lower one also. Its a pain, but you can regrease the lower without completely dismantling everything.

Yah I did bottom as well, that one is a breeze to remove and do. It was the upper I am honestly dreading and hesitant to do again, if I do have to, it would have to wait till spring/summer with warmer weather.

I'm surprised it would creak though, I applied generous amounts of grease and this isn't a mud bike.

Yep I am also. After I have added gear lube they have never squeaked for at least a month. You might try redoing the lower one so you dont have to pull air box again.

I may pull the lower one again to see as that one is fairly easy to do. What grease have you used? I can't believe this grease dried up this quick or that this steering is so sensitive to creaking

So I pulled the lower bushing, greased looked a bit dry and stuff gummed up. Going to use marine grease this time around.

With the front end lifted, tires removed when I turn the steering once I pass the Center and keep turning it hits a notch then keeps turning. Is this normal and part of the DPS? Steering is smooth through the range except once I hit Center and keep going further it’s like there is a notch at the Center mark.

That isn't normal. Sure there isnt a wire or something else catching right as it goes past center? I have a customer's 20 570 and the brake line spins in the splitter block as handlebars move. It causes a little bit of catch that you only notice with the unit off.

Unit is off in my instance also, bike isn’t running. Maybe this is the catch you mention? Put it back together, haven’t started it but seems smooth, catch is still there but I couldn’t see it binding anywhere. Pretty sure this “catch” was there always
Checked pinch bolts and their tight
