The hose comes off the pump over to the reg. the reg has a ring with for a lack of a better way to describe it teeth on it to hold it in. Using a pick or small screwdriver pry them back and wiggle the retaining ring off. The reg will come right out. I put a paper towel down so I could see how bad it was. On the vid that got wake posted years ago he shows it. I'll try to find it on you tube later and post it

Where the heck do you find that kind of corrugated line? Will normal rubber fuel line deteriorate in the tank if used? Any other suggestions would be great.

I couldn't find it. Just have to be real careful taking it off

Great write up! Just replaced my failing brp chinese bosche pump with an import direct U.S. made pump from O'reilly. Runs like a beast with no hesitation. Got to take it back out to check b/c now my fuel gauge doesn't work and the fuel light is on (no big deal though, rather have a running bike vs a working gauge)

Pulled mine out and it didn't look good. Waiting for the new one.

Hello! I too would like to thank gotwake for the step by step. I just replaced the pump in my 2013 and the directions made it simple. I would like to add, you can find some pretty good prices on those pumps and others at this web site
https://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php

The E8335 fits a 92 honda civic (as well as many others). If you look that make and model car up, it gives you all kinds of options as to which one you would like to purchase. I put the airtex in mine and afterwards had a mechanic friend of mine say you can't go wrong with the Denso and that their quality is top notch. It was however, one of the most expensive on the list. I guess if this airtex doesn't last, I will try it next.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but i´m having troubles getting the pump out of the tank on my 800r MAX. The passenger seat support is above the pump.

Do i have to remove the whole fuel tank from the quad, just to lift the pump assembly in the MAX (2-up) model?

thanks

If its a 2009 it comes out through the top of the tank.

If its a 2008 or older you have to remove the tank.

i bought a cheap pump and although the quad started, i got problems again soon. Pump stopped working (blown fuse too). The store changed the pump in warranty. One week later, new pump (same model) gives problems again.
I can hear the pump presurizing the line but the quad doesnt start. (not the normal sound, its doing something, maybe not enough pressure)

Meanwhile, Airtex pump is on the way. Its hard to import things, as i am from Argentina.

But i start to think that the problem may be the "filter" (the black thing between the pump and regulator). I read here that it can be drilled and replaced for an inline filter somewhere before the inyectors.

I cleaned the filter. Soaked in fuel and cleaners, i can blow air from both sides. It seems to flow well.

My concern is that if the filter is causing problems, i dont want to ruin the Airtex like i did with the cheap pump.

Suggestions are welcomed!

Thanks in advance and sorry for my english. :thumbsmilie:
